  • Hakkotsu Thunder-B co2 grenade (picture heavy)

    What do you get?

Well there are a couple of different packages. The only difference is the type and amount of shells that you get

The basic package contains:- 1 grenade set and 3 shells (1 pineapple and 2 old flash type)
The advanced package contains:- 1 grenade set and 12 shells (either pineapple or their new style flash-bang)

Pictured below is a Breakdown of what you get.

    3 or 12 shells
    2 pins
    Plastic or metal washers (varies)
1 set of plastic base and top in orange
1 set of plastic base and top in grey
1 grenade primer and spoon assembly
    1 co2 tube/compartment
    1 screw on end cap
    1 rubber seal/washer for co2 tube
    1 set of instructions

you may also have another piece that screws on to the primer/spoon assembly. But again this varies, some have them screwed in already (just follow the instructions)

    Assembly and setup

Assemble the grenade untill you get it looking like this (just follow the instructions)

So before we carry on, You will need to prime your grenade BEFORE inserting the Co2 cartridge.

Just pull the spoon up out of the way and you will see a black hammer.
Pull the hammer back and then insert one of your pins through the holes at the rear of the Grenade.

Now pull the spoon back down and insert the other pin into the holes at the front. This will hold the spoon down into position and keep the hammer from firing.

You can then remove the first pin that you put in.

To insert the the Co2 cartridge, Unscrew the whole Co2 tube away from the Primer assembly, I then drop a co2 cartridge into the tube (with the nozzle facing up)

Take the rubber seal for the Co2 tube (its the thick piece of rubber that is flat on one side and concave on the other) Place this into the tube concave side first.Use the spoon of the grenade to push this down as far and flat as you can.

Sorry, pics don't pick it up too well

When you are happy that it is seated properly (shake it and it wont rattle), Screw the Co2 tube back onto the primer assembly. You will feel some slight resistance, This is just the firing pin being pushed into place.

    Picture of the pin

Once that is done just screw the whole grenade assembly into your chosen shell.

Note the newer shells have a plastic ring and base that you screw onto them. These help you find your grenade and also stop the shell from splitting all the way up to the threads when they blow.

    Completed Grenade

You are now ready to throw.

You can insert powder and/or BB's if you like, both do work quite well.

After pulling the pin and releasing the spoon, you will hear the co2 rush out into the outer shell, You will also see the shell swell up.

You have about 3-5 seconds before it blows. And oh boy do they blow, they are reported to be about 120-130db, so about the same as a 9mm blank.

I have set off about 7 now and they have all been in the consistent 3-5 seconds range (just like a real grenade )

I suppose a pros and cons is in order, it seems like the done thing

    Pro's

mostly plastic so wont cause any real damage
    Light (due to above)
Less likely to get Banned (BFG i'm looking at you (again due to the above)
    Loud
    extremely easy to maintain
cheaper to buy than a BFG
    cheaper to use than Pyro

    Con's
Cost more to use than a BFG
You have to retrieve it unlike pyro
Shells and base unit are expensive to buy in the UK.
Shells are hard to find in the UK.

So in conclusion, Why not have a cheaper to buy, re-usable grenade.

Its right in between Pyro and and the Sought after BFG.The reason i bought one was due to a lot of sites reportedly Banning the BFG and a lot of places not letting you use pyro.

The best way to go is to source these from China, 12 shells and the grenade cost £20 ish plus postage compared to over £30 plus postage with 3 shells in the UK

I bought my first one and liked it that much i bought 3 more
