can someone with some intelligence or sense of logic and reasoning please explain this

if the rule for bumping threads is 3 days why is the timer that blocks you from posting set to 2 days?
surely mitr would make alot more sense to be set at 3 days?
surely it would make things alot easier for people and admin if it was done so
i've been bumping my threads after 2 days for the last 2 years and only now you feel the need to say to me hey hang on its 3 days not 2

if its 3 days change the bloody timer

i dont appreciate being dished out infractions and told things like the timer isnt the problem etc
clearly the timer is the problem as if it was set to 3 days as per the rules this wouldnt be happening

as i said this is how i have been bumping my threads for the last 2 years and never once received an infraction for it until now
i dont like the fact that the person dishing out said infractions has been on the forum for 5 minutes and literally just fobs off my concerns

I didn't know the timer was set to 2 days, if that's the case either that ideally needs to be increased or the rules changed for consistency. You could argue that users should follow the rules regardless... Depends who shouts louder...

      Re: timer between bumps

you could argue that but then why have the timer in the first place?

The timer is very buggy. Sometimes it won't let you post until day 3 sometimes it will let you post straight away after. That's why the rule is there.

The timer is no excuse for an early bump. You shouldn't be trying to post in your classifieds thread until 3 days after the previous post.

it's like assaulting someone and saying it's allowed because no one stopped you.

It's a bit of a pain that you can't update your thread to highlight bits that have been sold. Is there no way you can edit that?

Not that would work the way we need it to. Just give one of us a PM or post in the forum assistance and we'll get round to it pretty quickly!

                      Re: timer between bumps

May I just say, that if we do "what we're supposed to" then you wouldn't have been doing it for two years in the first place and you wouldn't have received infractions as I see that you did do, earlier today. The rules have been updated several times since I joined the forum, and even I must refer back to them to ensure my judgement has been made in accordance with the forum owners. Theoretically, if you'd checked these updated rules, every time they had been updated, you wouldn't have missed the notice about waiting three days.

Another user above asked about a way to edit threads themselves.

Whilst this isn't possible, and ForceGhost has given alternatives, there is one other option. Use an image uploading website, such as Photobucket, to host images that are used on your sales. Then, when an item sells, you can simply log into Photobucket, find your image, and edit it with big red writing saying "SOLD" over it.
The image URL (website link to your image) shouldn't change, and so when somebody accesses your thread, they will see the image how it was last.
Another similar option is to re-upload edited images, but you must remember that the link would have to remain unchanged (same filename etc) otherwise it won't show. Hope this helps.

And in truth - I hadn't realised we had a timer active here. I've seen users post after minutes, hours, days, etc - so just didn't think it was in place.

Should of been a warning. Given that it's his first time... No need to be so heavy handed especially if he's been doing it for two years and like many have no idea on half the rules.

                        Ease up a bit.

                          Copy from admin settings:

                          Minimum time before thread bump (#d #h #m #s) 72h

The user has been on the forums since 2011. If he has not read the rules in that period of time then I feel an infraction should be issued.
