  • adding bolt stop functuons

This might be an odd question but is it possible to add bolt stop on empty type functions to an ebb?

I'm thinking along the lines or the weapon not firing when the magazine is empty with it with a bolt catch mechanism. My first thoughts would be to add a break in contact switch to the battery wiring and then have something coming up through the on the Base or the lifter a little like tm bolt stop mags.

Does something already exist for this or is it doable?

TM recoils. I am almost certain they have a bolt catch function. Only thing is, only takes TM recoil mags, if you dont use TM mags then you lose the bolt stop function.

True. Some of the TM recoil do have the stop feature and use the mag to drive it. Using a non recoil mag means you will loose it but is it possible to have this kind of functionality with spending TM recoil levels of cash.

Coping TM ideas is all I can think of. Using a mag mechanism to stop the fire mechanism. Though I appreciate that TM do it physically I think it might be tricky to put the parts into a non TM recoil gun is there a way to do it electroniclyrics so that any ebb aeg can have it?

I'm sure there is a mosfet device that you can instal that stops the gearbox after a set number of rounds. You then hit the bolt release to reset it. Can't remember what it was called but saw it about a year ago.

There is also the combined tracer/peq box/chrono set up you can get which has a function that restricts the number of rounds you have fired.

Or else it's a TM Recoil, KWA Recoil, PTW or a Scorpion Evo.

I guess you could have some kind of electronic latch system so that as you fire it counts the rounds with a tracer unit until it reaches the desired number, then it would stop shooting until you hit the bolt catch which would be the reset button for the electronic latch and allow it to fire the shots again until the number had been reached, only thing is it would be near impossible to do unless you had hours of time, on paper it can be drawn quite easily and infact, most people with basic electronic knowledge could build the circuit on a PCB, but integrating it into the gun is the problem, how do you connect a tracer unit to the mosfet style system to count the rounds? (Maybe you could use a hop up counting system) and then you have the problem of the bolt catch electronics getting in the way of removing / installing the gearbox, not to mention it would not install into any gun which doesn't already have a bolt that locks back because otherwise the bolt would be stuck into place. A large airsoft company with the man hours and knowledge as well as the tools can achieve it I would think. But someone in their shed, they would find it very hard.

I did some thinking today and I think it could be doable with a little of both and very minimal wiring. Basically it would need a push to break tactile switch mounting just on the outside upper face of the mag well. The mag would then need a hole drilling in the top and a mount a nub on the rising plate in the mag to come out the top and contact the switch as the last rounds get fed. It would be a mod you could do to most mags and the switch is wired to break the battery circuit.
You wouldn't have the bolt release catch to hit but I would stop the weapon from cycling an empty mag though it would still function for weapon clearing coming to safe areas as once the mag is removed the switch is rel3ased and the circuit is live again and will dry fire.
