Measuring for gearbox bushings
24 November, 2016, 19:45
Hi, where do you measure for the gearbox bushings to see what size your gearbox use. Is it on the inside of the case or the outside?
Hope the question isn't to confusing
Cheers

Re: Measuring for gearbox bushings
measure outside the case or inside
it is the diameter of the hole in gearbox casing
nigh on most gear axles are 3mm - though some are 4mm and on HC05 spur + sector are 5mm axle
(usually they are 3mm axles)
suffice to say a 6mm bushing will have very thin wall 1.5mm wall + 3mm axle + 1.5mm wall
7mm bushing have 2mm race wall
8mm = 2.5mm race wall & 9mm (not many guns use 9mm) have 3mm race walls
Luckily - just a quick measure on outside of gearbox will determine the bushing/bearings required
you would have to be really bad at measuring to get it wrong
though tbh if doing much rebuild work I strongly advise getting a cheap metal pair of digital calipers - so handy
using those will tell you for sure what you are looking at and a must for other stuff like shimming etc....
older or very low end stuff will be using 6mm or 7mm perhaps
most stuff will be 7mm or 8mm these days
depends on make....
G&G v2's - 8mm most of time with exception of HC05
D-Boys v2's - 7mm
Cyma v2's - 8mm crossed bushings
SRC's - cheap v2's = 6mm but higher end revised boxes use 8mm
JG & Cyma v3's may use 7mm
other makes - think LCT might use 8mm or even 9mm in latest boxes
A&K v2.5 & Army R85's think use 6mm
don't take the last lot as gospel coz can't be ar$ed to confirm - that bit is down to the owner to double check
