  • TM P226r metal body conversion

Im looking to buy my 2nd gbb pistol. Im buying tokyo marui this time.

Im looking to upgrade the P226r to full metal but i i dont know which conversion kits to buy. I did search the internet but i get confused as people are calling the gun "navy type", "standard version" i dont know which is which as there is E2 and the P226r version.

Ive found there is a 2010 guarder metal kit but i dont know if the P226r is compatible with it. Can anyone point out and confirm which conversion should I buy for the P226r?

Also after the metal upgrade will I be able to use powerful gas? Like red or black gas?

    Thanks

To be honest in this country it might be worth sticking to the plastic gun, if you have to have a metal kit be careful of the old guarder as you have to file the gas block to fit in the slide as it is not drop in.

I have a metal converted P226 and it has never worked that great as it had a 150% spring upgrade (hammer and recoil) so stick with the stock springs.

As for the modern kits I will let those with better experience than mine to bring it up to date.

if you're set on metal the WE is a tm clone, so if you can find a trademarked version you should in theory be able to do that. (im not sure this is the model you're after or not though...)

I have a Guarder metal P226, it works fine although as mentioned you do have to take the sides of the gas block down.

Personally I run the metal Guarder lower frame and keep all the upper parts standard Marui, this gives a nice weight and balance bur keeps the real steel contrast of black lower and grey slide along with great performance and gas efficiency.

        Merry Christmas!

For the price could you not buy the WE F226 and build the TM into the frame and slide?
Just an idea obviously, but the WE is cheaper than most metal frame only sets!

The metal kits are far better quality than WE and obviously the TM is far superior but not always 100% compatible between the two.

I had a WE Glock 17 and a TM and was going to put the guts from the TM into the WE then found not much fitted and was far more trouble than it was worth and to buy the two guns is more expensive than some metal kits.

I think ditching the TM P226 old version and get the TM P226 E2 instead.
And found review that e2 has better performance than the old version? Mags as well in e2, it holds more gas?

Anyone have experience in metal kits of e2 version?

As this is a newer version i hope it doesnt need an filing now? Can anyone confirm?

... performance is the same! The changes are cosmetic ( trigger shape, smaller grips) and an improved mag which reduces cool down effect. Both versions of the gun fit the kit. Don't be put off by the thought of filing the blowback housing, its quite simple to do with little risk a cock up!IMG_3692.JPG

Oh right thanks. So have you tried installing it yourself?
Is that gun yours and converted to metal?

Does the improved mag compatible with the older version?

You can also buy a UAC blowback unit, this drops into the guarder slide. Though filing the unit takes all of 2 mins with a dremel. I would go with a 2012 kit for guarder, I installed the mk24 one (navy non railed) and never looked back.

Using a laylax trigger spring and a 130% recoil spring had no issues. Occasionally I need to push up on the mag to release it but only now and then, not sure why but that's the only issue.

Make sure you polish the frame rails the slide runs on, and expect to use 50-60 rounds to break it in, then it's plain sailing.

I found 2010 guarder with rails for TM P226 e2.

In terms of look. The older version of TM P226 is better looking for me including the mags. The bottom plate of the e2 mags looked thin than the older. But what is pushing me to buy the E2 version is the mag improvement and the future metal slide and body kits, as I've already seen metal kits online which says its for e2.

Which part of the metal kit needs filing?
