Protecting my action camera's lens?
28 December, 2016, 07:11
I got a Yi2 for Christmas which I'm excited to try out next time I go to a game. However I want to be sure I don't run up the field and have a stray BB crack open the (irreplaceable) lens. I've done some research and some say a UV lens will act as a good buffer (It'll break, but it will protect the lens as long as there is space between the two) or alternatively making a Polycarb or Lexan lens myself.
I'm not a very handy person so making my own protector is probably not going to happen (If anyone out there would make one for me I'd happily pay) but if UV lenses are guaranteed to protect my actual lens then I'm perfectly fine with picking up a couple and calling them disposable. Any suggestions or experience? Help would be much appreciated!
E:
I spoke to my Mum who brought me this gift (What a gyal!) and she said she wouldn't be offended if I exchanged it for another camera if it's a better option. I asked for the Yi2 specifically as it comes with some pretty neat stabilisation features and it's video quality absolutely bangs, so I'd rather not
