  • Silverback SRS

    Hi All,

I thought I'd write a little bit about some problems I've had with my Silverback SRS.
Now don't get me wrong, I love this gun and got it on release.

I thought I'd explain a few of these problems as I haven't seen much coverage of them anywhere online and a lot of people may not be able to fix the problems themselves.

This problem isn't necessarily hard to fix but an issue nonetheless, when I first got my SRS (no 404) and after assembling it, I found that the hop was awful, it would hop it way less or way more than I'd adjust it to, upon inspection I found that the hop rubber was actually split and was obviously causing my BBs to change direction wildly. This was a relatively simple fix with a new TM hop rubber but it wasn't something I was expecting straight out of the box.

Since then I've also installed a new 6.01 tightbore barrel and most of the Silverback upgrades for this rifle, the push bolt complete with 1 piece aluminium bolt head, the F.A.S.T hop unit (which is so much more effective), Along with the QD. 338 muzzle and silencer.

On the subject of the silencer, I found once it was installed, the central hole on the end of the silencer which obviously is where the BBs come through, was slightly off centre. Therefore as the BBs pssed through, they would hit against the inside edge and fly off sideways, leaving a white dusts on the inside of the silencer. This was relatively easy to fix by drilling a larger hole in the centre of the end cap. Now the BBs pass through unaffected. Again, not something I'd expect out of the box.

Over time with the SRS I've found one thing in particular which I can't seem to find any other evidence of online. Is that the trigger, being adjustable along a tiny rail, actually broke off of that rail. After taking the whole rifle apart to get to the trigger unit, I found that the tiny amount of aluminium on the trigger that holds it to the upper part had completely worn away, therefore making the trigger unusable as it had no grip on the upper piece. After I removed the 2 parts of the trigger, I felt as if the adjustment wasn't actually necessary as the trigger was already pretty well shortened on the pull. So I bought a small piece of 6mm thick aluminium and cut out a new trigger. (See pics below) This is now so much more solid and I can put 100% faith in it when I pull.

Now all of these issues have been resolved, I have a lovely rifle that shoots brilliantly to a range far further than I have the capacity to test (it'll probably reach up to 100m on .36g)

I just thought I'd write a bit about these issues as I'm not sure how many other people have had similar or the same things happen.

See a couple of pics below

The one on the left is the original trigger, and the other 2 are 1 piece aluminium triggers. They work a treat, and you can always cut out a new trigger in your adjusted shape if you like to have your trigger a specific way.

If anyone has any questions or any other stories about their SRS then please share!

    Thanks,

    Joe

I'm actually lefty too but I've got used to the functions. I have to take my face away from the rifle to pull the bolt but tbh in airsoft, it's never that serious
