Your Favorite Russian Assault Vest
16 July, 2011, 15:37
I just got a Grad 2 chest rig/assault vest and its pretty sweet. I actually wanted the Smersh rig but they were out of stock nearly everywhere I looked.
What is your favorite rig?

Re: Your Favorite Russian Assault Vest
Other:
1. Rex Design M21 vest.
Comfy, can hold 8 mags on the front, 6 on the back, can hold shotgun shells, thunderflashes, and even has a dump pouch you can reach on the back. Plus a pocket for your cell phone and pockets for documents.
(couldn't find a picture of it, but the one I have has four pouches for flares/thunderflashes and additional pockets on the back. I have one in birch [yellow and green] and one in digital Flora)
6B3 Soviet Armoured vest.
Four pouches for AK mags on the front, large pocket for other stuff, four pouches on the back for 40mm grenades. Issued in the Soviet-Afghan war in the 1980's. Easy to use, and uses an innovative system with multi-layer kevlar and overlapping titanium plates.
I kept the plates and kevlar in on mine. It's still light, and pretty flexible. Plus, I'd be safe if someone actually tried to shoot me. :P
6B13M Russian armoured vest with MOLLE/UMBTS system.
Bit heavy and not as flexible as the 6B3. Still, I like it because it looks awesome. And this is the first vest I bought where you can change the loacation of the pouches. Thought that was neat.
I have a Tarzan, the new one with the MOLLE. Not really want I want, I think I'll sell it and the digital Flora pouches I got for it.
Smersh is okay, never used it, but it's not even issued. Hell, I found only ONE set after visiting 4 of my suppliers of Military kit in Moscow.
Chicom is Chinese, but the Liftchik is pretty good. I'd get one if I could find one, they're rare as hell nowadays. I have a chi-com to fill that hole.

Cheers!
Depends on how much you're selling it for.
Might also put my Tarzan rig up if you're interested.
And my chi-com.

Re: Your Favorite Russian Assault Vest
I was going to get the Rex Design M21 vest but the Flora pattern is too light in my opinion.

Re: Your Favorite Russian Assault Vest
To clarify, why the Rex Design M21 vests are awesome. They look cool...
And...
What I have on my vest at the moment the picture was taken:
6000 round bag of ammo, two 270ml can of gas, 1 SRC drum mag, 1 speed loader, 8 AK midcaps, 2 Lonex AK flash mags, 3 WE 1911 magazines, water canteen, dump pouch, pack of fags.
I was a walking ammo dump and could still move around and run. That is why this vest is awesome.

Re: Your Favorite Russian Assault Vest
I'm a big fan of the M22 as well. Mine is a real one (in the now discontinued Les pattern) but I did get it at a bargainous price. I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay full price for a non issue vest.
