  • Real Tactics?

Does anyone use real military tactics such as fire and manouver and such in airsoft? Would just be interested as me and my mate were wondering about doing some.

Some work, some don't. So long as you apply them loosely, and not rigidly plan everything in detail then they work wonders. I tend to find things about weapons handling more worthwhile though. Such as the magpul dynamic handgun DVD

Fire and manouvere does work, real room clearance is a bit hit and miss. Because most of the time the enemy will know your coming through the door in airsoft. However if you want to get better just play more. Learn off the experienced players, play with them and against them.

Well, to a certain extent. You have to remember BB's don't penetrate light cover so well, and generally people aren't overly afraid of getting hit

My apologies to explain it properly, In general terms fire and manouvere does work. As you do say though it is not live rounds coming at you. Otherwise you would be more inclined to get on your belt buckle, most of the time.

            Re: Real Tactics?

Some things will, some things wont. Because of much larger ammo capacities, laying down covering fire is more effective, and people can be suppressed for longer. That said, people wont mind getting lit up if it helps the team overall, seeing as its only a walk to the dead zone etc.

Depends really, if you can get the whole team to do it properly then youre bound to kick some ass.

I did some training with the marines who run SWWG, they did a few walk on training days, teaching formations, fire & manouvre, room clearance, weapon drills etc. and personally I thought it was a brilliant day, well worth the money, however its not much use as I dont have a team to put it into action with :P

I would of thought that room clearance would work, obviously you wouldnt check for VP's before but you could still have two people sweeping each side of the room and then covering the vp's?

                  Re: Real Tactics?

i visited a site in scotland recently and their are a bunch of soldiers that attend frequently, it was most impressive watching them go about their complex military tactics and was extreemly effective! I know they are comming down for the weekender and are playing on Delta so i am sure they would be willing to expand on their work at the event.

I guess would work better if a large group did it working together, rather than just two or four guys.

                      Re: Real Tactics?

We use fire and manoeuvring alot and it does work as long as everyone knows what the default is, what to fall back on and whats expected of them. As already said, relies on individuals sticking to the plan but knowing when to act independently to support other team members

It would be interesting to watch a tactical withdrawel in airsoft, with two guys covering the other two while they run back and so on, reverse pepper potting if you will

does work...done it, but it totally depends on the situation, cover, the pressure coming in...whether the attack is structured and well organised itself. Two well trained, organised teams in a firefight is great fun

would love to be in one, it would e so good if you had a milsim game where your team knew all the drill, ie.coming under contact ill rush, get down and crawl up to make a baseline and such, and have proper sections and stuff.

Tactics like this can be utilised, but sometimes not as effectively.
Firstly, you need a team who all know what their doing.
Secondly, it helps if you work together a lot of the time. My team are all either serving, TA or ex (minus a select few). We play together a lot of the time, so our tactics are well rehearsed. The guys who arent serving have picked up on what we do over the years we have played though.
The main problems with airsoft are that you get the hi cap heroes, who can put down stupid amounts of ammo before assaulting a position. Its a nightmare from a real life perspective. Its alright to put down tons of ammo but IRL you can only carry so much!
