    Re: Special Reconnaissance Regiment?

Its restricted stuff. i can acces this because im at work, however i am not sure it will work.

Saying that i wouldnt have put that up because its a direct link to stuff people really shouldnt see. The intranet is RESTRICTED and cannot be accessed outside (as its an intranet).

    I maybe wrong though

      Re: Special Reconnaissance Regiment?

If there are hyperlinks on the docs they are not accessible on the Internet, certainly not from my iPhone. I think that is the critical bit. As the bit at the bottom of the page states, if you want them you have to apply if you are not on a unit. But if you have the intranet they should all be electronic. You can find some jsp's online eg 101 and others have been released through wikileaks (but I am not going to name them), 101 is only defence writing and is somewhat boring!

There are no direct links to areas of the MoD Intranet on that PDF. There are references to documents that are available, but no actual direct link.

The Intranet itself might be at RESTRICTED, but if the specific DiN is at NOT PROTECTIVELY MARKED, then it is generally OK for dissemination outside. Maybe a spot of sanitization is required?
Still, best to err on the side of caution and make yourself a cup of tea.

Its pointless fizzy, those of us interested tried to keep it on track to begin with. But those who "know better" always come on and turn these threads into a private nostalgia and "walt" bashing thread.

Brownings!!! Are you serious? They were phased out way before SRR came on the scene!

Snowdrop, not in the slightest aimed at you buddy, very good post tbh.

@ rasta, would a Walt say he is currently an LET(ME) that's no joke, it changed in 2007 when the new branch structures came out! Used to be LMEM.
It stands for leading engineering technician marine engineer. Joined in December 2000 at HMS raliegh, went on for career training at HMS sultan in Pompey! Past out in June and joined HMS Coventry in July, before you say that was sunk in the Falklands, this was the type 22 batch 2 frigate pennant was F98!
Once decommissioned I joined HMS Campbeltown just in time for the kick off of gulf war 2 where we spent 7 months in the NAG and every so often popping down to the SAG!
I've also had Cumberland, Somerset, Cornwall back to the Campbeltown now currently standing on the quarter deck of HMS Northumberland being duty weekend!
As a side note my SN starts with a D249, I was the last entry of the D24 numbers, it went to D25, then 26 and currently all SNs start with a 3 to fall inline with triservice.

I've done lots of stuff I can talk about and stuff I can't talk about in my 11 year 1 month and 15 day career!

So before calling someone out be able to fu*kin well prove it!
Being duty and only having Dii intranet it's hard to send pictures so Monday would have to do if you want to be proved further wrong!

Should you look back at UKSF you might also find there were troll posts above mine and my posts stuck to the thread!
Oh dear Sean, still Walting about are we? Have stumbled across this thread by accident and realised that I have served with you before, I seem to remember you being a bit of a beefer back in 2003/2004 and see things haven't improved much!

Seem to remember you flying back to Blighty for a boxing match and spending most of the time lying on the canvas after being banged out in round one! The lads down the mess really loved that one!

A killick ME, things you can talk about and things you can't? What like the Forward heads being blocked again? Or the HQ1 watch keeper being asleep. Come on! The RN do a valuable job but at the end of the day don't see the enemy face to face, don't miss meals, hardly ever go without a shower and a warm bed and are never more than a few metres from a beer fridge!!!

As a side note my SN starts with 23. Is that relevant?

PS Campbeltown was in Gulf War2. Are you sure about that? Seem to remember her cruising around the Med in 2003!!!!

Holy necro post batman, that's bound to be some type of record? Nearly five years since the last post. Think I remember it from first time around

Anyway I'm getting my popcorn ready just in case it kicks off again,

They tend to put on whatever gear the local unit they are attached to where.

                        Re: Special Reconnaissance Regiment?

Wow, that thread went full-retard pretty damn quick. So, how do I post without joining the melee?

The whole of UKSF is issued the Cyre/Paraclete/Airframe combo that is popular with a lot of guys at sites I meet. But to be honest as their job is the covert gathering of intelligence, you could wear whatever the hell you like, as long as the getup is consistent. Ie, afghan villager look, but packing serious heat, or civvies with a grab bag, I guess with that particular unit you're only limited by your imagination. I've seen them in some crazy getups, but in the context of their environment, perfectly normal.

As for weapons, C8/G17 and you can't go wrong, but like I said above, and AK isn't out there giving the context of their job. To be fair there is no wrong answer. Be good to see some load outs if people have them. always good to see something done right with a bit of imagination as opposed to the standard clone SF outfit that is common as muck!

                          Re: Special Reconnaissance Regiment?

Amazing what people will write, just to win an argument on the internet...

I think the issue here is a misunderstanding about what the SRR do. I'm not convinced an SRR "Loadout" were there such a thing, would be particularly practical at either a skirmish, or a MILSIM for that matter. Lots of funky Comms kit - not willing to say more.

It's a bit like walking into Thames House, and expecting to see loads of PPK weilding, steely eyed, alcoholic sex pests...

Oh, and they don't wear a sand beret either. It's green.

But Serving guys, please be cautious about what you're publishing. I doubt you want a meeting with hats on, and no biscuits because of something you wrote on an Airsoft forum , and yes, I'm typing this from a Dii machine too.

Please note, I am in no way attached or connected to anyone/thing SF. Just a paper pusher who works with those that have been.

                          Cheers.

                            Special Reconnaissance Regiment?

Yeah, bloody bonkers. I think a quick google will tell you everything you need to know these days. The amount of pictures circulating social media of 'UKSF' is staggering, not SEAL level stupid by any means.

Smoke, very true. People may think you'd be taking the mickey if you turned up in civvies with a pistol down your jeans! I'd imagine a 'them' inspired look would be better to keep the geardos happy.
