Ares spring guide - Please help!
19 June, 2012, 19:01
Hi all,
So I bought a Zero One Custom Ares G36K from a member on here which is turning into a bit of a nightmare.
The spring guide is broken so I need to order a replacement however being totally new to it all I am not too sure what to look for...
The gun is an Ares G36K with blowback, does the blowback have a different spring guide to the standard AEG?
Are upgraded spring guides worthwhile?
Can anyone post a link from Zero One to one that would fit?
Any help will be MUCh appreciated!

Just to add - I did a search which didn't come up with what I was looking for unfortunately.

Re: Ares spring guide - Please help!
AFAIK, the gearbox used in the G36 is the version 3 so an AK spring guide should fit in it.

Yeah the guy that's repairing it said it's a V3 gearbox.
Apologies for my ignoring but when you say AK I assume you mean the gun?
Having a nightmare finding a part that will fit!

Re: Ares spring guide - Please help!
Yeah, the AK-47 and other AK designs use a Version 3 gearbox as does the G36. So if you're searching *other sites*, anything that fits in an AK-47 or labeled for V3 will fit in yours.
Try to avoid bearing guides as they can actually take up so much room that the spring doesn't compress properly and can catch on parts in the gearbox. Plastic ones works fine below 350 fps.

An M249 doesn't use the version 3 gearbox. The one you want is probably this:

or

Re: Ares spring guide - Please help!
If the gearbox shell is still an ares blow back unit a standard V3 spring guide will not fit you need to mod a V3 guide by cutting the the locking "wings" down.

Yeah the guy said about that yesterday actually, think we're going to try that to a standard V3 spring guide first that they already have in the shop and go from there! Thanks
