  • SBS inspired hiking gear loadout

After seeing this pic of the 'SBS' in Afghanistan (2001-2002) I decided I would try and loosely emulate their loadout:

Basically I just wore hiking gear, a shemagh and bought a fishing jacket from my local outdoors store and i've gotta say it was awesome!

The vest has pockets that perfectly fit around 8 stanag mags in. It was nice and light and meant manoeuvrability was much easier. If anyone is looking for an easy, light, yet different loadout I very much recommend

Pics of me (on the right):

    Cheers for reading

Nice loadout. Loving the troll face in the second picture!

Picked up an almost identical fishing vest from a second hand shop for a fiver with the tags still on with the intention of doing a similiar loadout. Never got round to it!

        Haha thankyou very much

We were laughing because about 20 meters to the right (of the picture) was a corner the enemy kept coming around. They would bimble around and then sh*t themselves when they saw Adam and his 249 pointed at them...

        ...what fun we had :P

Like that a lot. Bet that makes a pleasant change from tabbing about with a plate carrier!

You do know that there's a hole in your crotch?

Oh yes, its much nicer. Being able to lie prone without mags and things digging into your centre mass is worth it alone!

haha yes, had a 'moment' where I kneeled down behind a wall and heard a worrying *rip*...

but on a plus note it makes pissing a damn sight easier...

That was a feature article some time ago, thought I recognised it.

                    Still a good loadout though.

I think the look you are actually after us the battle of qala I jangi aka the Taliban prison riot. The SBS were decorated by the Brits and Americans over it and it was very heavily televised.

Some more reference pic's for anyone who's interested:

Some of the pic's show them wearing Arktis (I believe) rigs instead of the fishing jackets.

Not all Scarpa, Karrimor & Berghaus gucci footwear it seems. Though i have to admit im surprised that of all the footwear available by 2001 that these would top of anyones list...not the best boots in the world by far!

                              Heres another decent reference picture...
