  • Cheap Soviet armoured division watches...

I'm afraid you've missed the 70s/80s US one and the 80s UK SBS one but.. the latest issue of 'military watch collection' is out and its a soviet watch.

The Russian army 80s one came out today so pop into WHSmiths and pick one up if you do soviets... its a good watch for a tenner!

yeah exactly, i mean they have been putting a lot of adverts about. What you see in the adverts is what you get. Its a pretty good copy of a soviet 'vostok' watch (its actually mechanically much better from what i've heard).

Google 'military watch collection' or search for 'soviet watch military watch collection' on an online auction site.

I'd hurry though, my WHSmith usually sells out of them the day they come in.

The US ARMY 1970s one went in hours. But then it was £3.99!

Ah the floppy hand thing.. thats because the hands are disengaged by a small plastic retainer to stop the battery running down. when you take it out the pack you pull the small plastic tab out and it works fine.

Honestly Bob it looks *exactly* like the one on their website and *exactly* like a real vostok. Its just quartz rather than wind on like a real one.

The real ones are notorious for having poor mechanisms whereas this is quite sound. It's very solid if a little 'large'.

Hands glow well at night but the numbers are not illuminated.

and it's about two minutes fast at the moment as i 'guessed' the time when i set it yesterday... i'm staggered that i was only two minutes out!

fizzy, before you get one of the auction site (they usually charge more for them), ring eagle moss's back issues dept. You can probably get it at RRP then.
Put it this way some people are listing the £3.99 US army one for like £15 on eb ay at the mo.

I'm still wondering why on the bezzle its a black inlay apart from 2000 hours to 2400 hours which are in red? Just a design thing or a reason for this?
