Re: Show me your homemade spray jobs

Ok so I didn't spray it, but I have just finished one side of my WE G36K and I really really like it. Originally it was just going to be Vauxhall Leaf Green (courtesy of Halfords), but I painted over that with some Revell Acrylic Dark Green paint, and then decided to weather it up a bit. Since the photo was taken I added some paint to the pistol grip as well so it doesn't look weird!

Sorry chap, only just seen you're post.
All you need to do is get some tan/sand/khaki and brown spray paints.
First you will need to prep the parts like putting something down the barrel and in the mag well then spray the khaki over first as a base coat.
When I spray the khaki I tend to take off all of the accessories i.e scope, torch, stock.
Prep all the accessories like covering the scope and torch lenses then spray them too
Then once dried put all the things back on (leaving everything tapped or covered), get you're self some scrim netting or something along those lines.
Place it where you desire to spray, then spray as many lines of brown across it as you like. I kept it simple with only 5 strips of brown.
When you do this you may find the brown is very dark and looks odd.
I had this so I took my khaki and sprayed at a distance so that only a fine mist of paint was hitting the rifle so to take that sharpness out of it.

If you would then like to go for a weathered/worn look, then I would get some old rag, white spirit and an old gloves + rubber gloves.
Take the rag and dip lightly into the white spirit, then just rub away at some of the edges.
Then keep doing this on the barrel as if you would be cleaning the real thing, until its taken most off but leaves lots of paint in the edges.
Now put on the rubber glove (trigger hand), soak the old glove in white spirit and put it on over the rubber glove. Then just keep rubbing away on the grip gently giving the perception of general ware.
Do the same with where ever you're trigger finger sits along with all the things like mag release, fire selector, forward assist and bolt release. Basically anywhere you are likely to touch.
Swap gloves to you're other hand and repeat for the front grip.
The rest of the ware will come with general use of the rifle when playing.

            Hope this helps chap

With weathering and dirtying, I find personally less is more.

                    Pimp my Armalite...

I happened to stumble across these lovely 'dpm' spray painted G&P M16vn parts on the bay, right as the listing was ending...

When they arrived I was feeling a bit reluctant to use them for gaming, after seeing the cracking effort someone has made on them. But...they're definitely getting used
