Removal/warnings of overpriced items
19 June, 2015, 19:38
Recently there's been a rise in people trying to rip other people off with overpriced items (successfully in many cases) not only on this forum but others. So was thinking that an admin could maybe delete threads with overpriced items or put a post warning potential buyers ? I can see problems with this but the biggest one is, what's overpriced ? well I'd say anything higher than rrp.
Sure this has been suggested a million times before but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.

Re: Removal/warnings of overpriced items
Simply put it's up to the seller what they want to charge for their items. If people buy them at an extortionate price without doing their homework, more fool them.

Re: Removal/warnings of overpriced items
Yes, people moaning about items being too expensive is a common thing on here.
However, some items have a going price of more than their rrp, often due to high demand and low amounts being made or that they have stopped being made, not to mention things which are just generally hard to get hold of or items that have been upgraded. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, if it's overpriced in your opinion then it's simple, don't buy it or if you want it, offer (politely) what you would be willing to pay.
Also, the admins don't get paid for this, so they don't need the extra hassle of dealing with this. People don't generally give their cash away (and if they do, more than happy to take some!) so just let the free market work.
Sometimes, people don't have an accurate idea of the value, but it's their stuff and they can list it for what they like.

Re: Removal/warnings of overpriced items
People are free to charge what they want for items. It's not for us to dictate prices to people.
Mod hat off, if people are paying over the odds for items, (I can't say this without sounding harsh) but more fool them. If they're happy paying x amount for something that's their decision.
I'm happy for people to use the Appraisals section to get valuations on items they're looking to purchase, as others have done

Re: Removal/warnings of overpriced items
The problem for some people is they buy something for say £200 use it for a few months get bored of it and think it is worth £190, a few months ago I was after a TM MP7 AEG one came up with a spare battery and two mags (inc the little one that comes with it) and the guy wanted £400 for it, I pm'd him and said I was interested but it was a bit highly priced to which I got the reply of that's what it cost new so that's what I want no drops so I left it there about a month later I noticed it had been bumped a few times but was still there and got a pm offering a £10 drop if I took it straight away!!
Unfortunately Airsoft does not have a buying guide so you have to sell things for what you think is fair but you must be willing to take a drop to shift an item if not it won't sell unless it is a rare item with people after them which does happen.

It's capitalism at its best mate - laissez faire!
Something is worth what the buyer(s) are willing to pay for it. I can't tell you how much junk I have sold on
that never to be mentioned auction site
for twice the RRP for no apparent reason - my fave example is a Templar Assault Systems (think cheap knock off Warrior Assault Systems) Multicam universal pistol holster I sold for £40... I think I paid £15 from an online store, didn't get on with it so whacked it on the
that never to be mentioned auction site
.
Either way let the free market do it's own thing - but perhaps reign the banks in a bit :P

Re: Removal/warnings of overpriced items
I don't really have an issue with what someone sells an item for as its up to them what they want to charge for their item.
My issue comes with people's inability to drop their prices when said item clearly isn't selling and all they do is clog the Classifieds with their items. If you haven't sold it after a month then take the hint people.

I had a similar insert-name-of-auction-site-here experience when I was shifting an old head torch. I watched the last-minute bid frenzy kick in and the price reached that of a brand new one. I think folk just don't like losing.
If I'm selling stuff I'm just looking to clear space and price accordingly to get things moving quickly.
I see certain things priced far too highly but I just ignore them. If folk want to pay high prices then fair play to them.
