  • RiF UKARA?

A brief introduction -- My name is Drew and I've been airsofting for almost 2 years now at my local airsoft field by hiring kit. I'm sixteen, and the price of hiring gear is really starting to annoy me, considering I could've bought several of my own with the amount I've spent on hiring. The problem? I'm sixteen. Unfortunately, after being introduced to airsoft by my stepfather who quit the sport when UKARA came into existence, I've developed a real love for the sport. However, he doesn't have any plans to return. Due to the fact that a large part of the fun in airsoft to me is the immersion, two tones really aren't appealing to me. I'm at a loss as to how I might be able to get my hands on my own rifles, mainly due to the fact that my stepfather doesn't plan to come back to the sport, meaning he can't purchase one to gift to me as he isn't registered with UKARA. Any suggestions?

At first this was just an itch. Now it's really starting to annoy me, and it's actually detracting from the enjoyment of the sport I've come to love over the last few years.

Well until you are 18 with a defence, there isn't much you can do about it, maybe get your mum to go instead

Wait til youre 18 like everyone else, life's not fair - deal with it.

Or alternatively figure out how to break the law yourself, and dont ask us to do it for you on a public forum where anyone looking for any ammunition to try and ban airoft/RIFs can see "oh look these people are telling people how to break the law, they cant be trusted to police themselves... mandatory 2-tones for everyone!"

Is not being able to drive on the roads right now deterring you from wanting to pass your driving test at a later date?

Like everyone else has to, you're going to have to wait

You may have been hiring for quite some time but enjoy the fact you have not had to spend time, sweat and money on tons of upgrades and repairs. This anguish alone has sent me grey.
With that consider you have saved money.

              Boo hoo; life is unfair(.

Legally, there is no way around your "problem" unless you can find some kind soul who will legally buy a RIF and give it to you as a gift without you paying them or doing anything in return.

However, I will leave you to figure out the rather obvious illegal solutions to your dilemma.

A few quotes of 'the law' but no-one actually telling the truth.

The advised acquisition of membership to an airsoft site as a regular or a reenactment society will ensure a fair hearing when stopped by the police and your gun is spotted in the boot, but this is by no means legal protection or indeed exemption.

The retailers love it as is secures a higher percentage of sales go through them and not direct from hong kong, taiwan et al.

But to imply that the OP is attempting to collude with others herein to break the law is wholly fictitious and excessive!

ik0uuu, you will need to save the money up for a really nice high end gat in about 18+ months time and in the meantime try to make a good friend or few at your chosen site, maybe one of them will let you borrow one occasionally, thus keeping the price down.

Reading the law is confusing, but nowhere did I read in the relevant sections anything about UKARA or any other organisation!

And as for the driving analogy, the road is covered by very clear laws and legal requirements, so mod should also learn a thing or two before chiming in with the same crowing as all the others!

                ;-)

Meanwhile, have fun and happy hunting!

Well, I see lots of waffle and attempts to belittle others, without actually answering the OP's question

As for my driving analogy, the VCRA (Section 40 for your reference) clearly states, and I quote:

It is an offence to sell an imitation firearm to a person under the age of eighteen.

So I find it strange that for someone who's apparently 'read the law', you missed this rather pertinent point

So for someone who's been on this forum for 2 years, and contributed a whole 15 posts, perhaps you want to wait another 2 years before posting utter drivel

I'm not going to get into the ins and outs because il get some muppet argue so il say this. Some sites will order your gun and keep it onsite until you come of age to get ukara. You can't take it home but it's yours and you will feel like uv earned It when u hit 18. I started at 19 so I can't emulate your feeling but I do understand your frustration man.

I'd love to buy second hand - but nobody seems to sell without a valid UKARA registration on these forums, or other forums. If anyone knows of anyone looking to part with a Krytac Trident CRB I'd be glad to purchase it from them for more than it's worth second hand.

                        Re: RiF UKARA?

It's worth pointing out that the law says you can't buy a RIF if you're under 18, but it doesn't say there's an age restriction on manufacturing a RIF, just that you should have a defence against prosecution (which you do have if you're manufacturing for playing airsoft at a proper site) in order to not get prosecuted for it.

So, theoretically (as these conversations always are) if any adult bought a two tone they could then give it to you, at which point you could then spray paint the heck out of it all (theoretically) legally.

No law against owning them or possessing them, though in practice (without sounding like Ross from friends) I imagine it's "frowned upon" by some authorities.

Here's an idea; Lets not do anything shady that could end up in our beloved sport being banned. OP should wait until he's 18 and stop trying to find loopholes, legal or otherwise
