WE G36 full auto kills range?
16 November, 2016, 22:12
Just picked up a new GBB G36 (39?) from WE today and I absolutely love it... but something Ive noticed is that in full auto BBs go about 5 metres then drop to the ground, as if theres no hopup whatsoever
doesnt have this problem on semi-auto, shoots like a laser beam for miles.
Any ideas?
Im using propane and .25g bbs, as far as Im aware everything inside is totally stock, minus the RATECH NPAS fitted.
On the basis Ill probably never be using it on full auto due to 30rnd mags its not that much of an issue, just would be nice to know why, and to have the full auto option if I need it
What Ive seen on google so far people seem to be suggesting this isnt an unheard of problem, and could be due to the hop rubber "freezing" on full auto... but Im using it indoors in the warm and with fresh mags & letting the gun warm up, not extended full auto firing.

Do all of the Bbs loose power? Have you tried over and under hopping to see if there is a difference?
If they all loose power, must be a gas issue- so temperature of the gas, seals etc. Like you seem to be checking. Try adding silicone gel as a lube to where the nozzle meets the magazine to help create a seal.
If it's some of them, regardless of the hop up setting, could be an issue with the nozzle not pushing the bbs into the chamber correctly. As it fires on auto it could be forcing the bb past the nub before the gas is popelled down the barrel, so it has effectively no hop.
I use a SCAR L and started using Russian hPA valves. They're awesome and solve a lot of issues. Check them out.

Re: WE G36 full auto kills range?
Yeah it seems every single full auto shot from first to last just has no power. No issue whatsoever on semi though. Havent had a chance to over/under hop yet, didnt think of that and now its dark and raining! Thats tommorows problem I think! :P
I dont really want to go down the HPA route, the ghostbusters backpack ruins it for me :P

Even the first shot? That shouldn't be affected regardless. Very strange.

Re: WE G36 full auto kills range?
I'm guessing it cycles just fine with no premature cooldown and ice build up on the top of the magazine?
I think I had the same issue as you when I first got the G36. Although this was years ago and cannot remember exactly how I was able to overcome the problem. Having said that I remember something I read somewhere about slightly loosening the two nozzle guide screws (either side of the nozzle) which would allow some movement in the nozzle.
This was that long ago it could have been a dream lol. But I may have performed this years ago to fix the falling short during full auto.
If it doesn't work then it was all a crazy dream of mine and ignore me ;-)

I'd check the NPAS is installed correctly and maybe revert back to the stock valve and spring before anything else if possible.

Re: WE G36 full auto kills range?
Ok so, having finally had a few days off work to tinker. Still no joy.
Ive figured out which way to turn the hop now, which was a ballache :P With hop fully on/fully off makes no difference (although now Ive had time to properly play with the hop and get it set, on semi-auto the range is absolutely IMMENSE, which is nice). Though I have noticed the hop rubber looks strange, most hop rubbers Ive seen seem to look like a U protruding into the top of the barrel, this looks more like a H with two little "fangs" either side of it.
NPAS Ive not been able to look at because I cant seem to figure out how to actually get to it, though Im not sure how the NPAS could be causing the issue if it works fine on semi, including rapid semi fire.
So Im still no closer to solving this mystery! :P

It sounds like the auto sear is somehow not allowing the firing pin to hit down on the mag long/hard enough. I'd strip it down and fire on semi and then full auto so you can see the hammer drop. You might notice something there.

Re: WE G36 full auto kills range?
Getting access to the npas is not a bad job and I always try and swap them out now for FG power down disks
1, remove bolt carrier
2, knock out small pin at the rear of the carrier ( comes out one way only )
3, undo both screws above the nozzle holding the nozzle guides in place ( just pull nozzle towards you and they will come out )
4, knock out small pin holding the nozzle together.
get some photos up at the spring used for the npas and the front of the rear half of the nozzle
