  • Not used my gear for a few years!

Hello, just wanting to know if I can salvage any of my batteries or buy new.

I have standard NIMH batteries and one 7.4 lipo all flat, the lipo is not swollen but I'm presuming beyond saving?

Are the NIMH batteries chargeable still? Should I just get new ones also best charger currently available? I have the vapex one for the NIMH and some cheap blue lipo charger which to be fair did the job.

    Thanks

Lipo may actually be recoverable, depends how much charge it had when it was stored, but actually getting a charger to charge it may be your biggest issue

Ni-Mhs are unlikely to hold a charge

I'm not saying the lipo will work, but certainly my old Ni-Mh batteries are beyond useless

It's not the fact they've gone flat, it's the amount of time they've been flat. From experience, Ni-Mh batteries tend not to age well

*** THIS IS BY NO MEANS AN OFFICIAL SUGGESTION ***

From experience, if I had a flat lipo that would not accept a charge AND was NOT swollen:

I have placed on a NiMh charger for 15 seconds and then attempted to charge normally on lipo settings.
Sometimes I have done this once, other occasions have taken 3 attempts, but every time I have managed to get enough residual charge in the lipo for it to accept a full charge and balance.

I used a fireproof battery bag and placed that in a metal tin...... Just in case.
Away from UK until June / July. Happy to still buy but sales will be harder due to not being home.

I've plugged the lipo in and it is recognised as a 2s and seems to be charging 😑

Both might work I used one of my nimhs for the first time in over a year the other day it was OK. Though lipos give significantly better performance imo
