For a night game just a chest rig with a few spare mags, but if its a day game then the ricas for sure I rather carry around an extra bit of weight than be caught short of a spare mag or batteries.

Re: Skirmish Wear - How do you do it?

I go for unit impression as a rule, i base my gat on what kit i am wearing lol, so as a rule if i was wearing flecktarn for a day it would consist of

              Boonie or helmet
              Smock
Bivi jacket and goretex in a day sack if its cold/wet
KSK Ops vest with 12 G36 mid cap mags, 2 USP mags, first aid kit, XTN & iasus throatmic, camo kit, AA maglite, 1000 rounds spare ammo, marui 400 rnd speedloader, leatherman, zip ties, a few snacks and a water canteen, spare batts etc.
              Shemagh
Mehler ballistic vest with foam inserts
              KSK trousers
              Lowa boots
              Camelback
              Bundeswher nomex gloves
              Shooting glasses
Utility belt with dump pouch & safariland and USP
G36 K with Eo tech and vert grip and M6 laser light

If on a milsimm i will add a sleeping and bivi bag, small tool kit, cook kit, kipp matt, basha kit and spare batterys and BBs.

Even though this may seem excessive to some of you, when the adrenaline is going you dont even notice it, i have been skirmishing like this for 15 years, so am very used to a full rig and it works for me which is the key thing, at the end of the day wear what you feel comfortable in. Dont overload yourself with kit just to look gucci, only use what you find practical is the best bet. I have seen players go down with dehydration as a result of overloading on kit and not drinking enough fliud. Finally if you are wearing a full rig, make sure it all fits and goes together, tape up loose straps, pad out anything that rattles etc. There is nothing worse tahn an ill fitting rig or set of webbing.

Re: Skirmish Wear - How do you do it?

Originally when I started, like everyone else (just about) I just got what was cheap, light and easy to use.
Now I'm leaning towards the unit impression, having started putting together a US Ranger impression and will also be putting together a Force Recon impression over the coming months.

For WW2 as authentic as I can manage, for modern, just whatever I've got around, but generally as slimmed down as possible.
Life is a short warm moment, death is a long cold rest,
you get your chance to try, in the twinkling of an eye,
eighty years with luck or even less.
