TM type89 parts compatibility?

So been looking at the gearboxes on these, and they seem very similar to V2 gearboxes, but with the added mechanical 3 round burst feature, i just wondered if a V2 gearbox would fit in the type 89, disabling the 3 round burst function, but still enabling it to function? Or, would V2/3 gearsets fit in the V8 gearbox, disabling the 3 round burst function but still enabling it to function?
