Wellesbourne Market
7 June, 2010, 17:01
Hi guys, thought I would just post a thread telling people about the selling of BB guns in Wellesbourne market.
There is about 500 stools in the market, a few of these illegally sells BB guns. This means they sell to either people under the age of 18, or sell RIF's to anyone. As far as I am aware, only two arrests in the last year have ever been made there (it sounds good, but there is loads of them), as the police are not clever enough to know that it is illegal or, as usual, can't be bothered to get involved.
I have always wanted to go to the market and tell people that they are beaking the law, but it is way too far away. I don't know if anyone near Wellesbourne has been... but as the laws for this sort of stuff are getting tighter, the last thing we need is RIF's being sold to 'Park Plinkers'.
Anyway, just thought I would let you know in case you want to go down there and check it out :P

If you've never been how do you know it's happening? You have to be careful with accusations while basing your 'facts' on heresay

Re: Wellesbourne Market
Same in Wimbourne market. A couple of them sell the clear KWC springers to under 18's and many others sell RIF's to anyone. Strange what airsoft stuff you can find in markets. At a car boot sale in the new forest someone was selling a Battered Tokyo Marui FAMAS for a stupidly low price bacause he had no idea what it was.

Re: Wellesbourne Market
If you can prove they are selling to under 18's why not report it to the local police? They will more than likely have a look on a market day at there activities.
Just because you are under 18 does not mean you cannot report a crime. If you think a crime is being committed ring the local police and let them know, that and you can also ask to speak to the market managers (like the site organisers) Most if you let them know of the stall holders activities and that they are breaking the law ban them from the market.
(similar incident happened at Thoresby market where the management found out about the dodgy DVD/pc software stalls and the fact someone was selling air rifles illegally, the stall holders were banned from the market and also reported to the police)
This Post may contain my opinions and if you disagree with them Tough S**T!

Seems like you are very well informed about policing priorities ...not. Have you ever considered that rather than bitching about their lack of action, that you bring this information to the attention of the local constabulary?
Police forces have to prioritise what they deal with, and place their resources in the best places to tackle serious crime. Unless someone brings this information to their attention, they would be unlikely to be aware that this is taking place.
Also, with every force now having a Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) tasked solely with working with communities, the local SNT for this area would be ideally placed to investigate this sort of allegation...provided you/someone takes the time to bring it to their attention.
