would it be possible to have the thread locked but you could still post your pics? or something like that?

I don't make threads often enough to consider it worth the extra time spent by the admins to make the chages you're saying...
Although, it is a nice idea.

Erm, you're wrong.

All that needs to happen is a new forum usergroup created, with the same privileges as normal users, however, you can select tick-boxes for the sections of the forum.

I'm just looking at my own Forum's ACP (vBulletin 4)

Problem is, they'd have moderating rights for the whole section, not just their own thread.

It would require every single thread to be set up individually by Rampage to allow a single user to edit his own gun thread far quicker just to pm a Admin/Mod or Aribos if you need something changed

You cant do it

the admin panels that you cant see will allow anyone to have Mod rights but it cant be singled out to a single section or thread

its either full on mod rights or nothing

been suggested before, im pretty sure that it couldnt be dont because of how the forum works, it wouldnt be possible
also, people were worried about others changing sales threads at the last minute in an attempt to scam people
