Swiss Cold War Sniper for Mil-sim
11 November, 2011, 23:16
Hi all,
I picked up a load of Swiss M70 Jackets and overtrousers in Leibermuster/Alpenflage recently and must say I really like it. I was particularly chuffed that the seller included original issue backpacks that clip onto the jacket to make an integrated loadbearing system and uniform. This has got me in the mood to go for an as genuine as possible Cold War era Swiss infantryman to a Mil-Sim level. I've sourced a lot of original issue Swiss gear and knockoff analogues that will do the job nicely.
I want to make the most of the built-in face scrim and go for a sniper loadout. Weapon-wise, I'm thinking a Sig P210. As a primary, research has led me to believe that the K31 with some form of optic would be period-accurate. However, no amount of searching has turned up anything save for inserts that can be dropped into the actual gun. The closest I can get would either be a K98 or a moisin nagant. What does everyone think?
I'll be posting periodically to update y'all as bits and pieces come in.
