Chrono testing: how should the hop up be set
4 December, 2017, 22:41
The majority of sites chrono test guns before a person can skirmish but how should the site limit be applied?
Say the limit is 350fps for an AEG on 0.20g bbs.
Is that 350fps with the hop off?
Or is it 350fps with the hop adjusted to how you would use it?
I know people cheat the test by putting the hop all the way up, thereby reducing the fps but is it considered cheating the test if your aeg fires 350 +fps with the hop off and 335fps with the hop adjusted as to how you would play?
Technically your over the limit but in reality you can't skirmish with the hop off, so by adjusting it your in the site limit.
Your thoughts and advice would be appreciated especially from Marshalls/ chrono testers at sites.
Thank you.

The hop should be set as you intend to play the game.
if you game with .3 ammo have the hop set for .3 ammo. Simply fire some .2 through it to test.
the point of chrono is to work out the muzzle energy of the projectile as it exits, well, the muzzle. To that end it is pointless setting the hop all the way off to test the gun to then only fiddle with it again, thus making your chrono reading pointless.
Away from UK until June / July. Happy to still buy but sales will be harder due to not being home.
Wanted:

VFC 416c, 416d AEG
HERA arms Glock chassis
