Thunderfurys house of wonders.
13 July, 2017, 10:22
So over the years I have owned a lot of guns and I like to mix these with my other hobby, photography.
I've decided to post a selection, I'll add more over time for people to view.
Enjoy.

Really nice photos mate. Is it all true lighting or have you put digital filters on them?

I use long exposures and "paint" the light on by hand using torches and coloured filter gels.

Ah a true photographer. So hard to tell these days if they have been digitally enhanced.

It's a bit of a misnomer because all digital images HAVE to be processed in some way. When you take a photo with your phone or camera (set to jpeg) your camera will process the image based on preset options built into the camera. When you shoot in RAW format you get a completely unprocessed image that requires you to adjust the settings to your liking. This is no different from editing film negatives in a darkroom, there is always going to be a certain degree of editing required. That being said, I do make a distinction between taking an photograph and creating an image in photoshop. Here is an example of what I sometimes do in photoshop:

Holy balls! As someone who's into both airsoft and photography, massive props to ya! One question though, how did you make the almost 'smokey' effects?

With a small vape, I don't use one personally but I own one to use as a portable fog machine.

Re: Thunderfurys house of wonders.
Absolutely cracking work here Thunderfury, 10/10. The first thing I tell people when they go out and buy a DSLR these days is, once you're comfortable wit the camera, "Always experiment with the RAW exposure", as you said, you get so much more control over the post editing of photos, while so many people simply stick to the jpeg setting (and auto settings). And you don't need a thousand pound DSLR/Camera either, all the entry level stuff have for years now been RAW comparable, I'm even taking more than acceptable photos with my 2003 Canon 10D...
Great work Thunderfury, keep up with the sharing.

Re: Thunderfurys house of wonders.
I actually have a 10d sitting on my shelf as a backup!
For years I used a canon 550d and produced images not dissimilar to these, I just outgrew it in some ways and had to retire it eventually. Even still my "professional" setup is a 1d mk III which itself is an older camera by today's standards!
