WE 999c AEG: spring release causing lock to semi-auto

Just recently purchased and kitted out a 999c, but when I've been testing it, it seems to fail on me whenever the spring release activates when switching the gun to safe. I hear the motor and everything looks fine until I switch back to semi-automatic, where it locks up on me. Only way to get it to fire again is to switch to full auto and fire. WE describe this issue in their manual but as it is an internal bit, they don't say how to actually fix it, and with semi-auto only rule found at most sites I need to find a solution. Any ideas?
