How to Guide: Make your WE Pistol fit in a Serpa/IMI holster (pics)
3 September, 2014, 01:19
Hey guys, here's a really simple guide to make your WE Pistols fit into Serpa/IMI/Similar holsters.
A bit of background:
WE make awesome pistols on the cheap. Sweet.
However, part of the reason they can do this is because they avoid having to pay to have their guns officially licensed by the real steal manufacturers as TM, for example, do. They achieve this by doing the following (I'll use my P226 as an example)
- Branding it as the "F226"
- Modifying the dimensions of the gun ever so slightly so it's
technically
not the same gun.
On their pistols they seem to achieve the latter by making the slide a couple of millimetres bigger. This makes it very difficult or impossible to fit the guns into Serpa/IMI hosters that were manufactured for their real steel counterparts, and into which officially licensed replicas and airsoft guns will fit perfectly.
So us WE users can get to use the Tacticool, operator-as-f*ck funky fresh holsters, we gotta do some small modifications.
Please note that if you have the same gun as me (WE P226 MK25, i.e. the curent US Navy Seal issue pistol) that it
will not
fit into a Serpa or IMI P226 Holster. This is not due to the fact that it is made by WE, but due to the fact that the P226 MK25 has a square rail, not a curved one as on the regular P226. The ONLY holster that will fit it is the Sig SP2022 Holster, made by IMI.
Anyway, onto the guide!
Step 0: Oh noes! It doesn't fit!

Step 1: Cover your gun with exactly one f*ckload of clingfilm

Step 2: Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celcius for fan assisted ovens, 200 otherwise. Place your brand new expensive holster into the oven and bake for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Feel free to cry in a corner for the entire duration as I did, though this step is optional

Step 3: Remove your holster from the oven (it's hot, so get a grown up to help you) and cram your expensive gun into it. Additional sh*tting yourself optional.

Step 4: Leave mixture to cool (Feel free to pace up and down and check to see if it's cool enough yet every 30 seconds like a total moron as I did, but again this is optional). Once cooled, remove the gun from the holster and take off the cling film

Step 5: Congrats, your gun now fits. You can now add it to your belt rig or put it at an angle on your chest like the cool kids. If it's still too tight then repeat the process.
