  • Low Power Vsr

    Hi all,

I recently purchased a vsr and it's great fun to shoot with. However like every other person with a stock rifle I wanna push it's performance as far as it can go.

There is a slight twist though.

As the title implies I would like to keep the power pretty low, say around 350 fps max. Im just getting into "sniping" with an airsoft rifle and every game I go to im learning more about how being sneaky, patient and quiet can give a surprisingly effective edge over regular AEG users. For the time being I want to rely more on skills and technique rather than the mechanical advantage of running a high power 500 fps set-up. That and to be honest I can't afford it right now!

With the popularity of the Vsr there are so many threads about recommended set ups for high power but hardly any detailing how to get the most from a mostly stock one. It seems also on every thread there is a huge contradiction in which parts work best. For example the "TK Twist barrel vs a Tightbore" question seems to have a lot of people divided over which is best.

I also realise there may never be a definitive answer to the questions of "which is the best" barrel, hop rubber, way to seal ensure an effective air seal etc.

So what I am wondering is if there is anyone else out there running a low power set-up could you detail what your set-up is and why you have chosen to do it that way.

Any advice, opinions and recommendations are welcome and appreciated so long as it's something you have personally experienced first hand.

    Thanks for your time.

there is the ptfe tape mod which is highly recommended, and also a hop mod where as a small hole is drilled so that a small bolt can be inserted via the top of the outer barrel for finer adjustments. There are threads all over the internet and youtube on how to do this i believe. These are both free of course, as long as you have the tools.
