Re: Sniper Upgrades (based on a VSR) and Further Guide

I'd say measure it just to be safe, if not, 480 sounds plenty!

Good luck and let me us know how it goes...

        Sorry bud,

It is a monopod, but there is nothing like that available for the VSR-10 (that I know of), unless you buy a "real steal" Remington 700 stock (the new age type that looks like JAE-100 M14).

        Thanks,

        Alex

Re: Sniper Upgrades (based on a VSR) and Further Guide

                Hi bud,

I'm glad it worked out well, how tight are they inside the outer barrel, and how tight is the inner barrel inside of them? Also, how many of them are there?

Over barrel silencers take some DIY to be able to produce anything extra than a standard silencer, and in my opinion really isn't worth it. It's much more worth while to tackle things inside the outer barrel e.g. Very tight barrels spacers which cut down on vibrations (producing less sound and better accuracy).

Unless you have a silencer you are already happy with, the best silencer I have ever used on my old L96 was a 'King Arms Lightweight Silencer 14mm Acw & Cw 200x40mm' (in stock on Z1)...

                Hope that helps...

yeah cheers for silencer info alex .

the spacer is a full length one it very snug only about .02 play on either side mate includin the o ring . the shots are very accurate and contant grouping of around 9mm at 65m

Re: Sniper Upgrades (based on a VSR) and Further Guide

I've got a question for you alex,

I'm on a budjet but i'm looking into getting a JG bar 10 and thinking of getting it running fairly smooth at as close to 500fps as possible.

The main things I WANT to get are the TB barrel, spacers and a higher powered spring.

However i'd prefer not to spend 185 approx on a Zero trigger.

What would you suggest getting apart from this to prevent the sears destroying themselves within a couple of weeks worth of skirmishing?

I know you say get the upgraded piston and trigger sears, however it became a bit unclear when you seemingly gave 2 different options for how to upgrade without getting the zero trigger. I appreciate you have probably taken the zero trigger route and naturally I would too if I had the money.

Re: Sniper Upgrades (based on a VSR) and Further Guide

First of all, I know you probably have something in mind already about what you want to do. But I'd say upgrade accuracy fully first before power.

As far as the BAR-10 goes, I strongly urge you to go for a TM instead, as the price gap doesn't seem large enough to go for a JG. If you can get a bargain on one or something that, then by all means don't think twice. Also, go for the G-Spec over the Pro, stabilising the barrel is much easier and efficient. You can always run the upgrade barrel into the silencer (I modified my silencer to take a barrel spacer).

                      Accuracy Upgrades:
-TB Barrel - EdGI or Laylax
-Spacers - PDI (they are VERY good) or if you can't get them then Laylax. 4x Spacers for a G-Spec will be pretty solid
-Hop Up Bucking - KA (Red Airseal) or Firefly (Black Hard) or Nineball (Purple Airseal)
-Cylinder Head - Laylax or PDI (this is the least important of the accuracy upgrades).

Power Upgrades (without the zero trigger):
-Piston - Laylax Red or PDI Hard
-Spring Guide - Laylax or PDI 7mm
-Spring - Laylax, depends on the TB you get. If you get the EdGI, then a 150sp Laylax will be fine, but if you go for the Laylax TB then you should grab a 170sp and clip it down to 500fps. FPS isn't everything though, you'll get a lot more from good tuning then an extra 20-30fps.
-Sears/Trigger - Laylax Piston and Trigger Sears or a new trigger that seems to be THE best you can get now - Noobies M-Trigger http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums...27.0;topicseen

I'm pretty sure that's everything, let me know how that goes, or if you have any more questions.

Yep that's pretty much all I was wanting to know, the guide wasn't specific on the piston/ sears to get. Hope my summer job allows me to get this VSR that I was considering.

Obviously accuracy is a priority to FPS at this stage, I would rather a Rifle that could hit at 150-200ft than something that could power it's way to hits. thanks for the advice.

Re: Sniper Upgrades (based on a VSR) and Further Guide

If your looking for accuracy get a pdi 6.05 barrel rather than a 6.01 and dont go over 480mm.(even pdi say that the 6.01 is less accurate, its for power)

430-480mm will give the best preformance, anything less or more will reduce accuracy slightly and isnt needed.(this has all been tested on another forum)

Barrel spacers are also easily made with electrical tape and as said help alot.

If you plan on running at 500fps get the firefly hard hoprubber and stay away from the layalax purple airseal as its to soft at high fps to give good results.

As for springs and fps, i wouldnt get over a 150 sp spring, especialy if you run a 6.01 barrel. i had no problems getting 546fps +/- 1 with a .2g from a 150sp with a few mods and a pdi 6.01(which ive now removed).
if you cant hit 500fps with a 150sp your doing something wrong.

Im glad you understand that fps isnt everything,i just wish more people understood this.
tuning a vsr isnt hard, its defenatly the easyest boltaction rifle to tune well and has alot of custon/ homemade bodge jobs that can be done on the cheap to up fps and accuracy.
