  • Gas Bolts - Someone please explain :S

    Evening all...

I fully understand how Bolt Action Rifles work- Have been using them for years but have never been able to fathom how a Gas Bolt works.

I recently opened mine to clean/re-grease/PTFE it after a few years in storage but cannot figure it out. (Well G25D L96 for those wondering)

It has a very similar spring action to a normal bolty near the cocking lever but it seems to "bash" into the gas cylinder upon pulling the trigger and rattle some gas out.... I cannot work it out.

    Can anyone offer any help??

Or do I assume it's magic or witchcraft of some sort?

gas bolt replaces the hole stadard bolt gas is filled in the bolt so when you pull the trigger it releses gas though the air nossle the gas then pushes the bb though the barrle and hey presto a cheap gas convestion for a boltie
