  • M249 advice please

I'm considering buying an A&K MkII which has the batt in the stock but I want to fit a MkI stock. Can I put the batt somewhere else? How do A&K do it on their other models?

Also is the A&K compatible with Classic Army, in particular the stock, magazine and handguards?

You'd have to have it front wired and run a mini in the foregrip if you want to run a Mk1 or Para stock. They're compatible with the CA. Infact I had a CA Mk1, bought an A&K Para, took the hand guards, heat shield and para stock off the A&K, fitted them to the CA, and fitted the Mk1 parts to the A&K before selling it on. I seem to remember having to do a bit of sanding on the hand guards but that was it. Mags are compatible too

Batteries should sit easily below the outrigger, beneath the barrel, no?

I always thought the batts went in the mag...

M249 mags are seperately powered. Have seen customs jobs that run both the gun and the mag though.

Yup, you can fit a saddle pack in there for extra mAh

Re; the battery. If you get it front wired a 2200mah 7.4v Lipo will fit below the barrel without much trouble, it'll be about the same size as a mini nicd/nihm but you'll get a lot more juice.

As Above, I have a decent sized LiPo in the foregrip that lasts me all day (Mostly ) I think mine is a 2700 mah.

Two more Qs, I now have an A&K Mk1 but the stock has quite a bit of lateral movement in its mounting, I can lay my hands on a CA stock, would this be any better or are they all a little wobbly?

Also will a G&P bipod fit straight onto my A&K 249?

You will get a bit of stock wobble but the one on my CA was fairly solid. Hard to say if the CA stock will help, it could be tolerances with the body/mount being slightly out that's causing the movement which means the stock may not help. Could you pad out where the stock meets the body with something to stop the wobble?

The wobble is between the stock and the stock mount so nothing to do with the receiver but I will certainly try some padding before shelling out for the CA, cheers mate.
