Would a real steel AR-15 Dust cover fit an airsoft gun?

I was thinking of ordering a nice etched dust cover for my M16, and I was wondering if a real steel one would fit? (I don't see any reason why not)

It should fit GBBs but I dont think it will fit AEGs as you have the cylinder in the way.. AEG dust covers have slimmer latches so they can fit as they have a gearbox inside of them...

Nope won't fit, why not get your AEG one etched instead, there is a thread on engraving somewhere.

I have a real etched m4 dust cover on my tm recoil m4. It semi fits, the cover goes on no problem and is the same size and shape as the ejection port but it won't lock shut. This is because the latch mechanism is different and there's no way I can see of swapping or modding it. Doesn't bother me though - if I closed it what would be the point in having an etched cover!
