I'll vouch for the TM 1911A1 as well. Its pretty reliable and it was the standard side arm for US forces in Vietnam (and afterwords until it was replaces by the M9 in the early 1990s).

You can probably find one closer to the £100 mark second hand. Have a look through the forum's classifieds and if you can't find one make a wanted thread in the classifieds section.
