  • GUN cleaning?

    Hey

I was just wondering how often i should be cleaning out the barrel of my gun?
is it somthing i should be doing after every use or every few months? on average i use my gun every weekend in any weather.

also any other tips on keeping my gun working in tip top condition?

    Re: GUN cleaning?

Personally, I clean my barrel (with silicone spray, hop off) after every game day. Be sure not to use fabric that could lose fibres down the barrel, and tissue is right out too. Apart from that, just keep the whole thing dry as possible, and clean after each use.
Life is a short warm moment, death is a long cold rest,
you get your chance to try, in the twinkling of an eye,
eighty years with luck or even less.

Tissue is OK for the initial clean through, as it's very absorbent and will remove most excess oil. But, as said above, it shouldn't be used for the final clean as it leaves lots of fibres behind.

Someone suggested, a while ago, using cigarette filters. I've now tried this and they seem really effective. Got funny looks from the wife though when I bought them as I don't smoke!

Indeed, barrel cleaning after each day at the skirmish field, and I do it before the day as well.

Knitting needle would do i guess, with something fashioned on the end to stop it falling off in the barrel...

Right, i know what i'm doing when i'm home haha

                    Re: GUN cleaning?

Cigarette filters are a good trick i've used for .22 guns before. You just load it like you would a pellet and shoot it down the barrel, cleans as it goes

Havn't tried it on a 6mm bore yet so might give it a shot (if you'll pardon the pun!)

                      Re: GUN cleaning?

You can breach load them in a single shot or GBB, but in an AEG you need to push them up the barrel with a cleaning rod.

Make sure the hop up is off first though.

So splurge a bit of silicone spray on it, and fire from barrel? haha - sounds crude but i'll give this a go!

What about sniper rifles do you just ram it down the barrel, but how far do you go and how do you know when to stop
