IR torch with HD camera ?

I brought a torch camera with IR led to record some videos of my games which worked ok, apart from aligning the camera to the right angle lol.

What i like to know is, i now sold this and upgraded the camera to a full HD helmet cam (drift ones) but where i play in dark tunnels i will need to look at some kind of stand alone IR torch. I seen some 3W and 5W cheap type ones but unsure if these will work as well as the LED type i had on my other camera. Would going silly and using a CCTV IR illuminator be a better way to go ?

Any advice be really handy, i know links can not be posted so feel free to PM any links of ideas if needed.

I doubt it will make the blindest bit of difference if your new cam doesn't film in IR.....

may be wrong, logically you can't just add Ir illumination and expect the camera to be able to pick it up.... unless it has the ablility, which normally costs bucks
