  • What's the best starter weapon? Something under £200 preferably

I want to get into airsoft next year and was just wondering if the more experienced of you could advise on what is the better weapon to buy for first starting out? All inputs are useful, thank-you!

      any of the G&G range.

as above, the m4 is probably the best as there is pretty much nothing you cant do to/with them.

grab a CM16, an extra high cap, and go nuts

The CM16 is my first gun, will be upgrading some bits and bobs. Hired one out when I started airsofting and thought It was a good choice!

Re: What's the best starter weapon? Something under £200 preferably

I would say, are you over 18?

If you are have you played three games in no less than two months or can you avail yourself of a defence in order to purchase a RIF?

If you are under 18, then an adult must gift you an airsoft gun, that must be two tone. If you are over 18 but have no defence you can only purchase a two tone gun.

If you are over 18 and do have a defence, as an example you are listed on the UKARA database as an active Airsoft player then you can buy any RIF you want and I would say, wait until you have a little more money and buy something that you know will last you a long time, that can easily be upgraded and that will ultimate hold some value for resale when you finally decide to get rid of it.

The five most popular brands are (in no particular order)

                    Tokyo Marui
                    G&P
                    ICS
                    G&G
                    Classic Army

Each have thier advantages and disadvantages, thier are other manufacturers of course, Ares, King Arms, VFC, etc....

My advice, ask the players at your local site, have a go of thier guns, find out for yourself what feels comfortable to you and what fits with the look you are going for.

Another case of some one being unable to use the search function.

the gifted RIF does not have to be 2 tone.

as long as the gun being gifted has been bought correctly (with a defence for RIF, over 18 +2 tone for IF) then it can be gifted to who ever the persone pleases.

the only reason you see the majority of under 18's using 2 tones is because mum and dad dont play, therefore cant buy RIF's.

No it doesn't but unless the person buying it has a defence it does have to be a two tone.

My foot up your backside, for not using the search feature on the forum.

On a more serious note, G&P's M14 DMR's can be bought for just a little bit more than the budget you have, if you can lug a heavy rifle for a whole day, or ICS's nylon fibre-bodied M4's are pretty good, and tough as anything.
