pistol advice
23 December, 2012, 15:47
hi guys
im looking for some advice for my missus who started out in airsoft and wants a gbb pistol but my p226's frame is too big for her to work the mag release and decock lever, any ideas on a decent small framed pistol that will be easy for her to operate?
cheers
ps she has really small hands

Re: pistol advice
If she can't handle the de-cocker that's no biggie is it . I have to shift my grip around a bit to reach the mag release on most double stack pistols . Detonics is a lovely little pistol I got one for my gf but she hasn't got a look in yet

Re: pistol advice
PX4, you can alter the grip to suit, it's built for the slightly smaller hand anyway and the safety is perfectly placed for smaller hands.

Re: pistol advice
Beretta PX4 is the best answer so far (or it's forerunner the Beretta Cougar).
P229 doesn't really make sense as it's just a compact length P226, so all the controls are in the same dimensions and she will have the same problems.
Lots of people recommend the Detonics, but it is to the M1911 what the P229 is to the P226; all the controls on a Detonics are spaced the same as a full 1911, so she may have problems (that said, my wife can handle the mag release on 1911s easy enough, just not the slide release).

My bad, I was under the impression it was more compact overall, not just shorter barrelled.
Glock G26 (and 27 and 28)'s are small

My girlfriend loves my USPc. She thinks I'm below average.

Re: pistol advice
Again though the USPc is just a shorter version of the USP, the grip is quite chunky compared to the PX4. I have the 226, USP, USPc and PX sitting next to me now and the PX is definately the smaller of the bunch.

Re: pistol advice
Glocks might be a good shout. I have two 17s (though no compact versions to compare them to) and I find them too small/thin for my hands. I think the compact versions might have the same spacings as the full size models, but don't know for sure; either way, she may find a Glock comfortable.
I also found this rather disturbing page:

I second the 26 or similar sized Glocks.
They are far too small for me to hold comfortably, so should be a good size.

If it's for the missus, get the TM one and bling it with a custom chrome slide, tasty...
