Installing an LCT Magwell Extension on an AK47
10 January, 2013, 12:26
Hi all,
I was hoping you all could help me today. I want to put a magwell extension on my AK47, but I dont know how to remove the pins around the trigger guard that the magwell extension attaches to. Do I need to dissassemble the gun, or is it a simple case of levering them out?

You got pics matey?
I know with my Cyma AK, the Trigger Guard/Mag release was held in with 4 Screws so the LCT Magwell fitted straight on.
Yours sounds different all together :?

Are they just press on covers, covering the screws?
What make is your AK?

Those are rivets mate. Permanent unless you grind the heads off and drill them out. The magwell flares only fit if you have the TM type trigger housing with two screws each side.
I've fitted two sets to a couple of my LCT AK's.

Bugger
.
But I thought the VFC was a clone of the LCT? Surely they would be designed the same?

Re: Installing an LCT Magwell Extension on an AK47
I've fitted two sets to a couple of my LCT AK's.
AMD 65
AK74MN
Just checked the two Cyma AK's i have.
Both are alloy receiver type.
One is CM047C. (AK74).
For the life of me i can't remember the number for the other but its a side folding AK105.
Both these have rivets on the trigger guard so will accept the magwell flares.. I think these are earlier TM clones whereas the newer steel receiver models are VFC clones.
(feel free to correct any mistakes people as i don't profess to know much about this).
Regards, Yorkie.
Ps, Just checked the VFC AKMS i have and that is riveted the same as my Real Swords.
(VFC=Two rivets per side. RS =One rivet per side).

Ah thats a shame mate.
I wish the shops would say in the description that they wont fit to a VFC type...means ive just wasted 30 quid

Re: Installing an LCT Magwell Extension on an AK47
They just want your money mate.
I suppose that there are so many variants/manufacturers making AK's now it would cost a fortune to buy one of each to test so they could say, "It fits Brand A but not Brand B".
I know when i fitted them to my AK74MN i had to cut part of the left hand flare away so i could still fold the stock to the side when they are fitted.
And thats an LCT with an LCT aftermarket part for an AK. Go figure?

Hehe.
So Im guessing there are no magwell extensions out there that will fit a VFC type? I know of the Dynamic Star magwell extension, but as far as I know thats also meant for the LCT type.

Re: Installing an LCT Magwell Extension on an AK47
its those bloody rivets that are the problem.
Even if you drilled them out you would then have to thread the holes for the mounting screws. A lot of messing about but do able if you really wanted to i suppose.

Arg sorry to hear your problems! Have to say though this thread has just saved me £30. I Was about to pick one of these up for my AKM, I totally didn't even think about the rivets and how they would cause an issue.

Flog them on here mate. Plenty of people with TM or TM derived AK's.
Shame they won't fit yours without hassle.
