Can i use a RC car battery in my airsoft gun?

So after recently buying a gun i needed a new battery, unfortunately it's not coming for a few more days. Is it ok to simply take the battery out of my rc car and use it? I'm not sure of the capacity of the rc battery but it says 9.6v NiCd on the front so it should be ok, it also has the normal connector but i read elsewhere that the polarities are reversed so this worried me a bit?

Yep RC have "normal" connector polarity and airsoft reverse (of course there was a chinasoft trend about 3 or 4 years ago to do the odd gun the normal way around, e.g. agm m14s).
Just pop the pins on the battery and swap. But for a15 quid or so to get a decent airsoft battery is it worth it?

RC NiCd generally tend to have lower mah than Nimh batteries, so while you can use it, it probably won't last long.

Most RC batteries are of better quality too so they discharge at a more stable rate.
