Lipo Battery and Charger? Need Help!
1 April, 2013, 16:16
Hello, I have always used Nimh's but with the amount of people saying Lipo's are the way forward I am seriously considering changing as I need a new battery anyways. I have read all the guides about them and they said they are only dangerous if you don't take care fr them. They take a lot of care which is fine, but someone said if they get wet they can explode? Does that mean if I have a spare one in my pouch and a bit of water gets on it then I connect it to my gun it will? And what battery will last me a full day of skirmishing and what battery charger should I get to go with it? By the way this is to fit in the handguard of a G&G M4/M16 EBB
Thank You!

Use a 7.4v lipo around 30-35C with a turnigy charger if your gun isnt setup for an 11.1v.
-TM Recoil M16 Custom- -TM 1911 MEU- -Tanaka SAA- -TM HK45- -JG G36k Ris-
-ECHO1 SA58 OSW- -A&K Masada- -VFC FNX-45- -TM Recoil AKs-74u-

Re: Lipo Battery and Charger? Need Help!
Presuming the handguard takes a normal mini battery? If so, something like a 2200mAh 7.4v lipo will fit in there, and will probably last you 2+ days of skirmishing
As for a charger, people used to recommend the iMax B6 but personally I'd go with the Turnigy, although saying that, I think most of the insides come from the same factory in China anyway...

Re: Lipo Battery and Charger? Need Help!
how about this set up:
im using a US company so that's why the price is dollars
Turnigy 1800mAh 2S 30C Lipo Pack $14ish
Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories (says its a smart charger) $22ish
would that work ?? and would it work for a classic army g36c (instead of the 8.4V standard battery)?

Re: Lipo Battery and Charger? Need Help!
Hello everyone, I decided to go with my normal 9.6v Nimh battery as I was reading all about Lipo's and it sounded too confusing with balancing the charge out between the cells. And with the amount of things that can go wrong or reasons to explode if you don't take care of them has put me off. Though I will probably get one when I will be able to properly take care of them. If anyone needs any information about Lipo's send me a PM!

- Plug battery in to charger
- Select balance charge and press start
- Wait for bleep and switch off
Confusing?

Re: Lipo Battery and Charger? Need Help!
Sorry was meant to write etc on the end. As I am used to Nimh I don't really understand anything about Lipo's at all. And I know for definite I will not look after them properly and as they don't have that outer protection that Nimh's have I would end up braking them very soon! I'm happy with how my gun performs with this battery so I have no reason to swap anyways!
I will probably end up swapping to Lipo in a few years though! :P

They have no more or less protection than NiMH batteries?
And you can easily start a fire with a mistreated NiMH.
At the end of the day MANY household things use LiPo batteries (iPhones, iPads and other tablets, some GPS units to name some).
There's no need to be so scared of them. Just look after them.
Upcoming Games:
None
Armoury:
G&G GR15 Raider-L, KJW P226, Cybergun M3, TM MP5 (x2)
Gear:
British MTP, Warrior Assault Systems RICAS, Magnum Elite II Boots

To be fair, some threads about LiPos make them sound very confusing as they're awfully written, plus there's always weird rumours that people come up with and comment about on threads, which had me a little confused and concerned at first.
However, having bought one, I promise you it is very simple and easy to use.
From what you've written, it sounds like you've not read any proper articles on LiPos, only the propaganda against them. If you do a bit more research and read some decent pieces I'm sure it'll all make sense and you'll see there is no real danger to using them. One of the best articles I read about LiPos was (I think) called 'Infected Airsoft', so have a google.

Thanks man! I found the article you were talking about and it does actually help a lot. The stories and articles I have read about them have been making them out to be the most lethal thing ever and making them sound like they are rocket science! Thanks again!
