m4 gas tube

I'm curious of the purpose of the gas tube on an airsoft m4 heard some people say it keeps the front end rigid, heard others say its purely cosmetic so I thought id ask here

It's cosmetic. The gas tube on most replicas is usually more wobbly than the rest of the front end. So it's not a stability thing

Re: m4 gas tube
most of them go through the front handguard cap and through the front site...stops the handguard twisting round.... not purely cosmetic

Re: m4 gas tube
On my rifle it stops the delta ring loosening and keeps the handguard aligned (DyTac Invader RIS) - serious stability boost!
