  • Good brands for Eotech 552 and Red Dot/aimpoints?

    I can't decided which scope I want.
I like the look of the Eotech 552 however I have read that a lot of people have ghosting issues, glare and lack of holo visibility in sunlight.

Not sure if I like the red dot look but not ruling them out as they may be more functional and hold their zero better.

It needs to go on a TM 416D recoil shock.
Can you advise me on what brands to go for and what to avoid?

Well I recently bought a Chinese 552 just to give it a go, and I really like it. It was one of the £30 ones you see on the 'bay and the reticule is very clear, no ghosting issues, although a little faded in strong light. Build quality is good, and I'm considering getting a load from a supplier to fit to my guns and sell the rest! I believe some sites call them UFC552s.

You'll most likely want to steer clever of the cheapish Chinese ones. The recoil will probably just about be enough to loosen the zero and shift it every so often

If you wand a good quality Eotech, then I'd recommend Eotech

I'm sorry Graham, how's recommending the best holo sight not to your liking? If the price of an Eotech is out of your budget then perhaps you should be more specific and specify your budget, no?

Sorry thought I had put in the post that I am looking at around £100 for the scope.

Clearly the Eotech would be the best option but not really spending hundreds of pounds for a Real steel scope when the RIF won't be able to utilise it properly

At thy price probably something from G&P, or NCStar. Although I personally haven't tried either of them, they seem better made

At around £100 I'd say check eBay for a real one. I've seen older ones go for £150 so you might get lucky

I have a g&p eotech rep, find it very tinted and dark. Almost a mirrored finish, as said above. The reticle itself is fine, but I find it reduces visibility somewhat.

I recently bought a strike systems 35mm red dot, £35 and its easily the best cqb sight I've looked through, super clear, varying levels of brightness, and gives great visibility. Looks great too in my opinion, appears tinted red when viewed from the front and also accounts for parallax error. Would highly recommend to anyone. Depending on your gun though you may need a ris riser, as it sits a little lower than my eotech clone but this doesn't cause me any issues on my p90.
