460mm barrel - is it worth it in an m4?
16 February, 2010, 11:39
Is it worth changing the 363mm barrel of my g&g gr16 to a 460mm tanio koba twist barrel? The only thing that's put me off is the need to change the cylinder to a 4/5 but as a begginner dissasembly of the gearbox looks very complex/ difficult to put back together for me. If I got a 6.03 363mm tightbore, what would the differences be compared to having a 460mm tanio koba? Is there a point where barrel length no longer effects range/accuracy?
Thanks

after 365mm here is no real increase in accuracy or range.
and a twist barrel only works with sub 1J weapons
trading WE M16A1 for CYMA or RS SVD with PSOP

328fps on the gr16 so no worries with using a twist barrel. Are twists as effective on semi as they are on bolt action guns? Think i'll be using this only on semi as a DMR so I'm trying to get it as accurate as possible

Whatever upgrades your going to throw in, any difference, at all, will only be slight.
I'm not trying to put you off, but airsoft guns are
not
accurate, not matter how much money you spend on them.
My advice is, throw in a
standard M4 length X 6.03 TB,
along with a descent hop system.

Your only priority shoul be to ensure the inner barrel is as long as possible inside the outer. Anything much shorter will likely introduce turbulence along it's travel.

Ok you've changed my mind :P.
I think i'll get the 6.03 m4 length tightbore, and just get a decent hop and scope!
thanks

Have you tried a heavier BB? They generally help accuracy without having to change the barrel.

I think it's been proven that after a 455mm barrel it makes no difference what so ever

No offense guys but the actual testing proved it was 300mm.
Beyond this the difference was insignificant.
