support guns?
16 February, 2010, 23:40
i've been looking for a support gun, but not sure whats the best out there. Does anyone know ov any good ones for range/accuracy out of the box plus around 350fps plus all for around £200 new or used.
A lot ov people at my site use l1a1 slr or m14 so are they the best or are there others to consider?

Re: support guns?
As stated on the other thread, M14 and SLR arent considered support weapons.
A&K make an M60 and different types of M249, check out the support weapons for sale on the forum, they usually go for £200 ish

Re: support guns?
THe L1A1 SLR and M14 are classed as Battle Rifles not assault rifles and certainly not Support weapons. I have a CA 249 but tbh you wont get a new support weapon for
£200. You may get a well used A&K 249 for about £150 and a good one for around £200. But they aren't in the same class as the CA 249, which you would look at £250-£325 for a good one.

But there are real steel versions of both, but you would need to spend more than £200 on gun and mods.
What about the SRC RPK. thats about £250.

Re: support guns?
Support gun is something like an LSW,SAW or GPMG. Not an M14!
Its a DMR or battle rifle.

Re: support guns?
Have a look at the MG36 made by SRC.
It's basically the long version of the G36, with a box mag. The carry handle optics are supposed to be pretty good and it has a built in bipod. Because it's a support gun that was made by the manufacturer in the real world (though I don't think any were actually put into service), sites who will only let people with "real" support weapons (such as Dragon Valley) will let you use one. If you turned up with a box mag on an M4, some sites won't let you use it.
As a bonus, being G36 based, you can put on shorter front ends to give yourself a regular length, or even very short, assault rifle.
The SRC G36 is getting a very good reputation at the moment.

What he said such a fun weapon to use (Got a JG MG36 myself) Thing with the G36 as I have said before is you can pretty much make a whole bunch of guns out of it with a barrel/front end change. Use the Efront with a Bipod and use a proper drum mag on it and you essentially have an MG36. If you have the non carry handle version like me you can wack a nice telescopic on it and a tight bore and have a very nice DMR with the normal mags in.
Then you can replace the front end and barrel with a K end and have a nice mid range woodland rifle if you can't be arsed lugging around the E front end all day.
Finally you can wack a C end on it and bam you have an ace CQB gun.
(G36's to me are gun porn so I may be slightly bias :D )

Re: support guns?
I think you may be thinking of the Canadian C2 LMG. Not really a L1A1 is it? Different barrel mags and an almost a complete redisgn of the receiver, so therefore making it a new gun. I think you would be very hard pushed to call it a SLR and you certaily cant buy one or even upgrade parts to make one. M14E2 was also heavily modified but this time you can get a conversion kit. But still not exactly a proper Support weapon.
