Installing the SA80 sling.

Sorry for poor photos.
Step one:
You should have two lengths of sling.
Take the piece with the female clip.
Attatch the first piece like this:
Make sure the loop is udnerneath, and not ontop.
Step two:
Take the other sling, and attatch the male clip onto the first piece like this:
Step three:
Take the end of the first sling, and slide it through the butt sling loop:
Step four:
Loop the end through the other end, like this:#
It should look like this:
You now have two tags to tighten or loosen the sling when you wair it.
:D

When you un-clip it, it should go into what i like to call BATTLE-MODE! if your rifle hits the deck you've done it wrong.

^^^^ DONT DO THAT STANDING UP
stuipd coz if you get it wrong, you drop the rifle. do it with rifle on the ground and you should be able to lift it

Re: Installing the SA80 sling.
God. I had that drilled into my head on CCF Cadre (had to teach the weapons lesson which involved slings). Must've taken off and put the sling back on over 20 times in an hour. Nice A2 by the way

Another way of doing the rear sling loop i learned off some booties is like this:
Its slightly easier to move around and shoulder the weapon properly when wearing body armour like that.

Yes, but that way looks like its wearing down the edges of your sling.

Re: Installing the SA80 sling.
Sling was like that before it was fitted!!
The wear you can see is what you would expect on a sling fitted the documented way as that ring is where all the weight is and as the sling is free to move, it rubs on the sling loop and hence the wear you get.

Real SA80 slings don't fray like that.

Unlikely. The material just isn't right. Where was it sourced?

Re: Installing the SA80 sling.
it was sourced from the armoury on base LOL! Ive got like 10 of the damn things as i designed a modified version with another nexus connector so the weapon can be more easily ditched for naval use.
