Re: G&P mk.23 upgrade advice
Hop rubber - Marui over systema
Piston - Lonex Blue
Gears - depends on what ratio you want! lots of makes and ratios out there
Motor - Lonex Titan A2 high torque (assuming its a long shaft)
Battery - Ditch the NiMH, they are old technology and poor. Go for a 7.4v LiPo. You'll get a much better battery with a much bigger Mah rating than a 9.6v NiMH so it will last you longer and provide you with more power than the NiMH. Motor will run better then

Stick in a decent size (2200mah) 7.4v lipo and leave the rest alone it'll work fine.

barrel - TK tiwst
As much credit as these things are given, they perform only marginally better than the best TBB which is 6.04mm.
The way a TK Twist barrel works is it uses a hexagon shape barrel to make the BB bounce in a predictable way, thus it will only have 6 exit locations from the barrel. Systema and TM have maintained that 6.04mm is the optimal tightbore as anything beyond this causes a larger amount of bounce inside the barrel thus increasing the possible exit directions from the barrel due to the BB's bounce (therefore more spread).
The grooves in it also aim to create a stabilising "vortex" around/behind the BB, however there is no physical evidence of this happening and is all theoretical.
You can get a systema 6.04mm barrel cheaper than a TK twist.

I use a 7.4v 2600 mAh lipo with mine and it works a treat
I also reiterate the greatness of the marui hop rubber
