Who makes the best AK's?

Hi all. I have always disliked all aks but at present fining myself looking at ak74s a fair bit. So my question is who are say the top 3 ak producers?
Only interested in the short version btw for cqb.

If it's the SU you're after, then:
VFC (just edges it over the LCT due to the grips being more realistic in build, although the LCT wood seems better)
LCT
Kalash

CYMA also make the SU but the Kalash seemed to have the edge because it was steel and the CYMA was pot metal. Not sure if CYMA do a new SU in steel, if so I'd rate it above the Kalash

Is kalash a chinese brand? I knew vfc would be up there, but what about ics? There s looks quite nice.

LCT were the Innokatsu kits, started doing the kits as LCT and now do complete AEGs. Very solid, but not cheap either. The AKSU isn't a bad price, $400 + the usual. ICS are nothing special when it comes to AKs and many AK lovers would prefer to buy a Kalash or CYMA (both Chinese clones) and spend the difference on performance parts, or simply not at all. I've no experience with the ICS though, I'm just going on others opinions. The ICS AK74 for example, doesn't have a metal body. It's plastic wrapped in a thin metal sheet. Whether that's the same on the SU I have no idea

Do you think a stock vfc ak is lipo 11.1v lipo ready? If not anything other than gears needed?

I have a m4 stock tube lipo that looks like it will fit nice.

No, especially not on auto. 7.4v yes but if I was running a 11.1v I'd want a MOSFET. You could also get one that limits your RoF so you don't shred your gears. If you're not worried about replacing internals, just run it until something breaks.

G+G are pretty good. they do full metal and real wood, with great internals for little for around 250 (i think)

I have had both vfc and kalash and while the kalash was good it was no VFC.

I have just sold the kalash but am keeping the vfc. If CA did the bearing gb in SU I would put CA second. Bit I think they only do the para, with the longer front end. Weired.

I did a fair amount of research befor buying a new vfc, G and G recievers are not as good. Classic army externals are not so good.

If you are looking for quality there is only one on my list.

Yes LCT do great kits but spoil it with the cyma gear box. That needs upgrading straight away if you want it to perform as good as it looks. No point buying top quality externals with average internals.

VFC advertise that their guns will take up to 12v sticks out of the box. Didn't try it myself, stripped the gear box and rebuilt it. Then built another for my kalash.

All depends how much you want to spend and if you intend on a custom gear box. VFC and custom gear box is nearly £600. Where as a Kalash and custom gear box is arround £400. But for me:

If you arent so bothered about the cost; id buy an Inokatsu AK74su kit, then put full VFC internals in. Best of all worlds. External & internal build quality, performance, and reliability. Costly though.

if you are a little tight on moneys then go for the kalash ak74 solid buld need a little work on the mech box but other wise a great gun mine hasnt failed and al i have done is just put a new spring and change the lobe
