G&G Combat Machine AEG CM16 Raider
16 November, 2013, 04:03
Hi Guys
Just thinking of getting a G&G Combat Machine AEG CM16 Raider - mainly for playing around in garden though may do a bit of skirmishing (not much though and would be woodland). Thing is, looking at the spec and the tuning options showing standard, M90 or M100 springs; I'm just wondering whether it's worth paying the extra and what you would realistically get out of it for the extra cash over and above sticking with the included one - I'm assuming it's an FPS thing. Also, is upgrading the spring fairly straightforward to do down the line if you need to.
Many Thanks

Ive had one for over a year now , I use it for garden fun and skimishing, fantastic gun, probably best value for money out there , I wouldnt bother with a spring change as they are 330 -340 ish as standard out of the box.

Re: G&G Combat Machine AEG CM16 Raider
It's fine stock, no need to change. But have at have a look at the cm18, same gun but the rails are nicer and it doesn't have the fixed front sight. It's a bit more expensive, but looks better.
Springs are straightforward to change but can be fiddly. Check out mechbox in YouTube, shows you how to do it. But you won't need to do it for a while.

Don't bother with paying the extra, from what you have said your using it for they are more than adequate enough
Amazing value for money when you factor in the free G&G hi cap which is very good and if you did buy from Z1 you get a free game day.
I have one which I bought purely to sit in the gun bag in the event of a major failure with my primary. A friend borrowed it one day when his primary broke down ( I won't go into details of the brand etc as it would start a flame war but it was a brand generally considered much better) and he loved it so much he keeps asking to use it instead of his own AEG!
They do lack the quality of a more premium priced AEG though. There are a few things that do annoy me about the CM I have, the dust cover you have to hold open to adjust the hop (no fake bolt to pull back to expose it) so it's constantly shut. Also if you look down the end of the rifle the inner barrel does not have a very good fit and is well on the loose side. There are more things but I won't go on!
But again for the cost you can't complain.
Opinions are like assholes. Everyone's gotta have one.

Re: G&G Combat Machine AEG CM16 Raider
Thanks for the feedback, it's much appreciated. I did toy with getting a DBoy M4 full metal which seemed good value at around 180 until I looked around and found the quality seems on the less than good side.
Now I'm wondering whether to go down the lines of getting a full metal version and/or blowback - whether the extra £100 will be beneficial for what I'm using it for? I suppose the problem is that if I do try skirmish and enjoy it if the plastic version will suffice or getting metal now is the best option.
Cheers

I you have never played before just use hire guns for the first 3 times to see if you like it and get ukara, then make a decision on what you want based on your experience.

Re: G&G Combat Machine AEG CM16 Raider
My brother in law got the plastic one. He can't fault it.
Marshalls kept getting complaints from people with £800 worth of upgrades because he wouldn't take his hits.
Turned out he was just out ranging them.
Budget win.

How can you spend £800 on upgrades?
Unless it was a G3 of course...

My bank account could tell you. I thought buying a DTW would save money over a PTW. Let me tell you i was wrong. I haven't even skirmished it yet and spent a bucket load on it
