Night game+flashlight advice
23 November, 2013, 20:16
Hi im attending my first night game on saterday so i decided i need a flashlight, my clubs rules say the flashlight has to be the same or less than 2 cells but I dont know what that means, i was looking at the Ultrafire C8 Q5 ris flashlight does the C8 mean 8 cells? :S. Also is there anything else i might need for it. Before someone says it i cant afford NVGs

I'm assuming they mean it must take 2 batteries or less. the ultra-fire you appear to be looking at takes one 18650, which is roughly the equivilant of one CR123. It's certainly no more powerful than 2 CR123s, which are the most common battery for "tactical" lights.
Either way, that's a really stupid rule. you can still put insane amounts of power out of a 2 cell light, or even just an 18650.
Also, keep in mind that 18650's and similar batteries are Li-Ions, so require specialist chargers, you don't want to stick them in a standard home charger, it can end very badly, as can getting some cheap, off brand chargers from places like eBay.

Thats great thanks, the torch comes with a charger so there should be no problem with that

Like bobthebuilder says, that is a really odd rule. If they don't specify what cell it is, you could use anything. This SureFire Hellfighter...
...would run for 3 hours on two of its BA5590 cells at
3,000
lumens

Bahaha. Shame they're so expensive, one day maybe when I win the lottery and get a WMIK with mounted LMGs and one of these. xD

That's not a torch,
That there is your own portable sun.
I would love to have one of them.

Their arses I think.
My olight is a 2 cell and runs at 320 lumen.
My next one is 900 lumen and still runs on 2 cells.
section 24 of the 1968 Act
Supplying imitation firearms to minors
1)It is an offence for a person under the age of eighteen to purchase an imitation firearm
2)It is an offence to sell an imitation firearm to a person under the age of eighteen.

Lawl, two cells you say? Aftermarket drop in and two 18650s... Everyone on the other team is blind!

What with the nature of reflectivity being as it is, the brighter the torch you have, the more light comes back at you...
The majority of cases at night games, shining your torch around is a certain way of letting everyone know exactly where you are...

Re: Night game+flashlight advice
I can understand the thinking behind the rule. But the way they've stated and enforced it doesn't quite work
