Mad bull ultimate hop unit
15 February, 2014, 13:05
Is this worth the money? If not can anyone point me in a direction of one that's good! Looking for some decent range for a DMR.
Also, this hop comes with a mad bull shark hop rubber, is that any good? Or should I get another one with this?

Re: Mad bull ultimate hop unit
I would choose a Prometheus Hop, rubber and barrel for a hassle-free DMR ish setup.
But for ultimate range/accuracy you will need to be looking at an R-Hop setup.

Also, buying hem second hand off the forum, bad idea or is that alright? Like do they degrade in terms of quality?

Re: Mad bull ultimate hop unit
Amazing you have heard of an R hop but you havent heard of google, only joking, its an extended patch of rubber like material that sits on your inner barrel in the hop window, which provides a longer flatter amount of contact with the bb,as it passes and therefore more backspin

Re: Mad bull ultimate hop unit
If you want accuracy for a standard setup (IE non R-hop) use a ProWin hop unit, prometheus purple rubber and a lonex 6.03 steel tightbore. It will cost less combined than the madbull equivalent, work better and last longer

Re: Mad bull ultimate hop unit
Currently using the nub that came with the prommy rubber - this setup is pretty new but it sure as hell works
Thinking of going for a prometheus bridge type spacer though, just to get a little bit more out of it.

Re: Mad bull ultimate hop unit
I would not recommend the ultimate hop - had a lovely G&P sentry upgraded, but this was the one thing that stopped it being simply incredible.. still, worse things are available!

Re: Mad bull ultimate hop unit
The pro-win chamber adjusts similarly to the ICS and Madbull, very stable by comparison to the traditional AR style dials.
For drop in hop buckings, I've had best results with Firefly Soft, But KM's RH45 is very similar. Marui, Systema, and Guarder Clear type are also very good. Avoid the harder rubbers as they are less efficient because they require a more aggressive hop setting (which equates to loss of muzzle energy) to achieve the same hop effect.
